Sacrament of Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on the 1 st Sunday of the
month. Classes are held on the 3 rd Tuesday of each
month. Please come by the Parish Office to register
or call for more information.
Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Penance is offered on Saturdays,
from 4:45p.m. to 5:30p.m., on Tuesdays, from 6:00
p.m. to 7:00 p.m. or by appointment.
Sacrament of Marriage
Please contact the Parish Office at least (6) six months
prior to your desired wedding date to arrange a meeting
with Father Gary or one of the Deacons. If you
want a Mass, you must call Father Gary.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Are you a non-Catholic who is interested in joining the
Catholic faith? Are you a baptized Catholic who has
never received the sacraments of 1 st Communion and
Confirmation? If your answer is yes to either of
these questions, call the Parish Office.
Sacrament of First Communion
First Communion candidates must be baptized, at least
in the second grade, and have been attending CCE
classes for two full years previous to their receiving
the Sacrament. Adults needing First Communion
should refer to the rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation candidates must have previously
received the Sacraments of Baptism and First
Communion. They must have faithfully attended Life
Teen for at least one full year prior to beginning
preparation for the Sacrament (more than three
absences without a valid excuse can alter the process).
A signed form stating that the parent/guardian and the
candidate understand all requirements is also
necessary before the preparation begins. Adults
needing confirmation should refer to the Rite of
Christian initiation of adults.

The Bereavement C.A.R.E. Team (Caring and Reaching

One-hour meetings describing NFP and its advantages,

“Protecting God’s Children for Adults”
Sat. May 4th, 9a.m.-12noon, Rosary Hall
Clergy, Staff & Volunteers who have regular
contact with children and youth are required to
attend the training.
Preventing child sexual abuse is the goal of a program selected
by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston which educates
clergy, staff and volunteers who work with children, about child
sexual abuse and the ways to create safe environments for children.
The 3 hour session includes videos facilitated discussions
that focus on the prevention of abuse and the protection of children.
Adults learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms
that an adyult is a potential risk of harm to children and how to
know that a child is being abused or exploited in some way. You
will learn about the steps that the faith community can take to
create a safe environment for all God’s children and how to
respond when adults behave in a way that raised concerns.
“Gabriel’s Angels”
The Gabriel Project is designed to help
women and teenagers who are in a crisis

FR. GARY’S MESSAGE
Peace Be With You! This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Divine
Mercy. Were it not for our Lord’s loving mercy, we would be lost. Take a close
look at the painting in our Divine Mercy Alcove in the church. It is an exact
copy of the original which was painted by Eugene Kazimirowski in 1934, under
the direction of Sister (now Saint) Faustina Kowalski. In her vision, Jesus Christ
said to Faustina that she should include in the painting the words: “Jesus, I Trust
In You!” Remember and offer this prayer every day through the “Divine Mercy
Caplet.” By placing ourselves at the mercy of Christ, we naturally become more
merciful to others. God bless you.
I am still, slowly but surely, working hard on a serious eating and exercise
schedule, in order to lose weight. I thank you for your prayers and for not
offering food to me at the office or rectory. Please continue this practice in the
future. I still have a long way to go.
In this Easter season, it is important that we upgrade our efforts to
achieve holiness. Here are ten steps toward coming closer to our goal:
1. Cease any serious sin.
2. Renew the Sacrament of Penance in yourself.
3. Pray more and more sincerely.
4. Dive deeply into the Eucharist and its message of love and service.
5. Nourish good and friendly relationships with others.
6. Love your Church.
7. Practice charity and gratitude.
8. Embrace your crosses in life.
9. Relax and be more trusting.
10. Abandon yourself to God.
Congratulations to those who were fully initiated into the Catholic Church
through the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation at last Saturday
evening’s Easter Vigil celebration.
Bazaar planning starts soon. Thank you for your love, prayers, and
support. 2013 has started to be a promising year for St. Mary’s. Please help us
achieve our DSF goal for the year. Once we get our Rosary Hall debt taken care
of, things should really start going. Happy Divine Mercy Sunday! We are many
parts, but one parish family.

EL MENSAJE DE PADRE GARY
¡La paz este con ustedes! Este domingo celebramos la Fiesta de la Divina
Misericordia. Si no fuera por el amor misericordioso de nuestro Señor, estaríamos
perdidos. Miren bien el cuadro de la Divina Misericordia en nuestra iglesia. Es
una exacta copia de la original que fue pintada por Eugene Kazimirowski en
1934, con las instrucciones de la Hermana (ahora Santa) Faustina Kowalski. En
su visión Jesucristo le dijo a Faustina que incluyera en su cuadro las palabras:
“¡Jesús en ti confió!” Recuerden esto y ofrezcan esta oración a través de la
“Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia.” Cuando nos unimos a la misericordia de
Cristo, naturalmente nos convertimos más misericordiosos con los demás. Dios
los bendiga.
Aún estoy trabajando muy seriamente en una rutina de ejercicio y alimento para
perder peso. Les doy gracias por sus oraciones y de no ofrecerme comida en la
oficina o casa del párroco. Por favor continúen esta práctica en el futuro. Aún
tengo mucho que recorrer.
En esta temporada de Pascua, es importante que tengamos mejores metas para
lograr la santidad. Lo siguiente son diez pasos para lograr nuestra meta:
1. Aléjense de cualquier pecado grave.
2. Renuevan el Sacramento de Penitencia en ustedes mismos.
3. Oren más y con más sinceridad.
4. Miren a fondo a la Eucaristía y su mensaje de amor y servicio.
5. Nutren buenas relaciones de amistad con los demás.
6. Amen a su Iglesia.
7. Practiquen obras de caridad y gratitud.
8. Abracen sus cruces de la vida.
9. Relájense y tengan más confianza.
10. Abandónense a Dios.
Felicidades a los que se iniciaron completamente a la Iglesia Católica a través
de los Sacramentos del Bautismo, Eucaristía, y Confirmación el sábado pasado
durante la celebración de la Vigilia Pascual.
Los planes para el Bazar comienzan pronto. Gracias por su amor, oraciones, y
apoyo. El 2013 es un año de muchas promesas para Sta. María. Por favor ayúdenos
a lograr nuestra meta para el SFD. En cuanto se pague nuestra deuda del
