2 “CALLE CASA IS MADE FOR YOU” ―How‘s your seminary life?‖ ―How did you find the seminary?‖ ―What did you do in the seminary?‖ These are the questions that most people often asked when they met a seminarian. People are fond of asking these questions but it is better to ask, ―how‘s your vocation?‖ than asking ―how‘s your seminary life?‖ In our present society, people perceive the seminary as a place of deprivation from the world of entertainment, of games, television etc. For them, it is a place for contemplation and prayer. As a result of this mentality, they wonder on how a seminarian can survive in the seminary without having those pleasures. On the other hand, these perceptions of some people about the seminary life is incomplete. We need to fix it through the help of this publication. CALLE CASA is the name of the new newsletter of the Adornos. This paper will feature and report the activities and happenings in the seminary. CALLE CASA- literally means ―House in the Street or Street House‖ is technically an acronym wherein C- means celebrating, A- stands for adoring, Lliving, L- loving, E- for Eucharist. Finally, ―CASA‖ is a coined name which mainly pertains to the four aspects of our seminary life. Before the name CALLE CASA was agreed upon by the staff, several discussions and brain storming took place. As a result, two suggested names were voted upon. First was ―CASA for Christ‖ and the second one was ―CALE CASA‖. CALE CASA was unanimously approved as the official name through voting. It was Fr. Jason who suggested to add one more ―L‖ in the word ―CALE‖ to make it more profound and meaningful. Finally it became ―CALLE CASA‖ instead of ―CALE CASA.‖ CALLE CASA as what Fr. Jason (the one who initiated this newsletter) said ―will serve as the means of communicating with our families, friends, relatives and most especially to our beloved benefactors!,‖ he added, ― that everyone will be well informed and updated of all the activities, projects and other things that we are doing here in the seminary and for them to know that we are not wasting our time in the seminary but fruitfully using it for the sake of Christ our Lord!‖ Specifically, this gazette is not only for us seminarians, but for you my dear readers, so that you may be fully aware about us, about the ADORNO FATHERS in the Philippines and as a sign of our deep gratitude to you because you‘re also part of our life! June - October 2009 Dear Friends, The General Assembly which took place in Rome this past July brought many different changes to the personnel of the Adorno Fathers worldwide, including the Filipino-American Delegation. My appointment as the Rector/Superior and Novice Master of the Adorno Fathers Seminary in Vinzons, Camarines Norte, Philippines is a new assignment for me. I arrived at our seminary on August 25, 2009 with much enthusiasm. One of the many programs that the community of Vinzons starting this school year is a newsletter for our seminary. After consulting with my fellow formators, I handpicked the Editorial Board of the above-mentioned project. The first task of the Board was to come up with a new name for our newsletter. Many different suggestions and ideas came about and after much thought and reflection, I am so proud that we have come up with a name which will surely help you learn more about our life in the seminary. I would like to welcome you to the first issue of CALLE CASA, the official publication of the Adorno Fathers Formation House in Vinzons, Camarines Norte Philippines. This newsletter will be a means to keep in touch with our families, friends and benefactors. CALLE CASA was conceptualized by the Editorial Board and it is a perfect definition of the formation program we have in the seminary. CALLE is an acronym for Celebrating, Adoring, Living and Loving the Eucharist. CASA is a concept for the four aspects of our seminary formation. C for Community, A for Academics, S for Spiritual and A for Apostolate. I hope that you will take part in our journey here in the seminary as you read the news, articles and literary pieces written by our own seminarians. I ask you to pray for these young men who are discerning their vocation to the priesthood and religious life. Rector/Superior Seminary Welcomes 7 New Seminarians Jan Christopher Gamit After passing a set of tests and interviews, seven new seminarians responded to the invitation to study for the priesthood. With gratitude to the Lord, the Adorno Fathers welcomed them last May. They were given a week of orientation of rules and regulations in the seminary before the arrival of the rest of the community last June. The seminary student body reflects a growing ethnic diversity. One seminarian was born in Mexico City, Mexico, One from Makati City, two from Glan, Saranggani Province, two from Labo, Camarines Norte, and one from San Vicente, Camarines Norte. They take their Philosophical studies at Holy Trinity College Seminary in Labo, Camarines Norte. The Adorno Fathers Formation House is blessed indeed with young men who want to be future religious of Christ and to be future Adorno of the Order of the Clerics Regular Minor. Jaycee S.
