Family Weekend Schedule (July 20-22 nd )
Friday, July 20
9am-5pm APEA Class Observation
Location: Consult your student for class schedule, CMU campus
Family and friends are invited to attend and observe APEA college courses
with students. Students should make arrangements for this with their
individual faculty prior to Family Weekend.
2:30pm – 5pm National Game Academy Open House
Location: Entertainment Technology Center
(700 Technology Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15213)
A chartered bus will depart from the Morewood Gardens Parking Lot @ 2pm;
Open House will begin at 2:30pm or you may drive yourself to the ETC
location, the lot at the ETC location is pay as you park.
5pm-7pm Dinner Break on your own
Feel free to explore Pittsburgh! Please see the information table at Morewood
Gardens for guides to Pittsburgh.
*Carnegie Café open 4-7pm in Resnik Hall (student dining, families must pay
per individual $11.50, students are covered under the full-time residential
meal plan)
7:30pm Cosimo Colazzo Recital
Location: College of Fine Arts, Kresge Recital Hall, CMU campus
Cosimo Colazzo is a visiting pianist and composer from Italy. His recital will
consist of the complete sets of “Musica Callada” by Spanish composer
Frederico Mompou and some of Cosimo Colazzo’s original pieces.
Saturday, July 21
10am – 2pm Drama Design, Production Technology, and Management Program Display
Location: Purnell Lobby, CMU campus
10am-11am School of Design Information Session
Location: Margaret Morrison, Room A6, CMU campus
All students and their families are invited to an introductory presentation by
Melissa Cicozi, Assistant Head of the School of Design.
10am – 5pm Special Weekend Hours at the Bookstore
Location: Bookstore, University Center
The Bookstore is normally closed on the weekends during the summer.
However, it will be open during these special hours for the convenience of
Pre-College students and their families.
10:30 – 11:30am Carnegie Mellon: Academics, Admissions, Financial Aid, & more!

tour will be offered after the presentation from 12pm – 1pm.
11am – 12:30pm Drama Program Class Demonstrations
Location: Philip Chosky Theater, Purnell Center
Join us for a collection of demonstrations by Pre-College Drama students.
12pm – 1pm Campus Tour
Location: Tour will depart from McConomy Auditorium, University Center,
CMU campus
Enjoy an engaging walking tour that, over the course of an hour, provides a
general overview of Carnegie Mellon complete with interesting facts, figures
and historical tidbits about the university.
12pm - 2pm Art & Design Student Exhibit Reception
Location: College of Fine Arts 3 rd Floor, CMU campus
Enjoy light refreshments amid an exhibit of Pre-College student work.
12:30pm - 2pm Drama Faculty and Family Picnic
Location: Purnell Center Main Lobby/The Cut, CMU campus
Lunch will be served and families will have the opportunity to mingle with the
Carnegie Mellon Drama faculty.
12:30pm - 2pm School of Architecture Student Exhibit Reception
Location: College of Fine Arts, Room 214, CMU campus
Enjoy light refreshments amid an exhibit of Pre-College student work.
1pm - 2pm APEA Open House and Reception
Location: Danforth Lounge, University Center, CMU campus
The APEA Director, Coordinator and some Faculty members for the Advanced
Placement Early Admission Program will be available to meet with students
and their families.
2pm School of Art Information Session
Location: College of Fine Arts, Room 303, CMU campus
All students and their families are invited to an introductory presentation on
undergraduate studies in Carnegie Mellon’s School of Art
2pm-3pm Architecture Information Session
Location: Margaret Morrison, Room 103, CMU campus
Attendees will be given an introduction to the undergraduate architecture
program. The discussion will include a presentation and description of the
program as well as admission requirements.
3pm School of Art Orientation Meeting
Location: College of Fine Arts, Room 303, CMU campus

Family Weekend Schedule (July 20-22 nd )
All students staying for six weeks and their families are invited to meet with
Elizabeth Keller, Director of the Art & Design Pre-College Program. Students
will receive their schedules at this meeting for the second three weeks.
3:30pm Pre-College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble Concert
Location: College of Fine Arts, Kresge Recital Hall, CMU campus
6pm-7:30pm Pre-College Community Dinner
Location: Weigand Gym, University Center, CMU campus
Join the entire Pre-College community for a special dinner.
7:30pm – 10:30pm Talent Show and Reception
Location: McConomy Auditorium, University Center, CMU campus
Sit back and prepare to be amazed as the 2012 Pre-College students take the
stage in the McConomy Auditorium for an evening that will knock your socks
off. Guests are invited to join our performers and the Pre-College Counselors
for a reception offering light refreshments immediately following the show in
the Connan Room and Wean Commons.
Sunday, July 22
10am – 5pm Special Weekend Hours at the Bookstore
Location: Bookstore, University Center

Pre-College students and their families.
1:35pm (game time) Pirates vs. Marlins
Head downtown for an afternoon at PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates
and watch some of your very own Pre-College students sing during the 7 th
inning stretch!! The Pirates face the Marlins for this afternoon of classic
baseball, set against the stadium's incredible view of downtown Pittsburgh.
Tickets ($15/each) are available for purchase at the Ticket Sales table under
the Registration Tent on Opening Day and after Opening Day in the University
Center (UC) Information Desk. Ticket prices include a $10 loaded meal
voucher usable at the concession stands at the stadium. Buses leave at
12:15p.m, meeting location Morewood Parking Lot.
Sign-In Policy & Curfew
Please remember that all students are expected to sign in for curfew each night. This
includes the evenings of Family Weekend. If your student will be staying with you (and
therefore missing curfew) then you must complete an “Absence from Campus
Permission Form”. The form is available at the Morewood Gardens Front Desk or the
Morewood Gardens Information Table.
