ERS offers new
on a first-come, first-served basis at the ERS counter.
- The students shall provide their own optical media (CD-R/RW)
and sticker labels.
- The students shall prepare or bring the final softcopy of the
draft (i.e. word document) of thesis/dissertation.
- Additional editing or modifications for the thesis/dissertation
shall be accomplished by the student.
- Students shall bring the signed approval sheet of thesis/
dissertation for scanning.
- Each optical media transfer/burn shall be charged Php 25.00
per CD.
- The printing of sticker labels for burned CD's shall be charged
Php 5.00 per page.
This service and transaction is solely for thesis/dissertation
activities of the academic
community. This project was
started through a communication
sent by AEA Director Sonia
Gementiza to various universities/
colleges and other institutions.
The Aklatan will try to
enhance its collection, linkages and
services through gifts and exchange
declared their willingness to support
include the University of Santo
Tomas, University of the Philippines,
The Reference and Information Section highly recommends the following titles for the month of September:
National Geographic. Atlas of the World. Washington, D.C.: National Geographic Society, c2005.
R G 1021 .At65 2005
With this eighth edition of the National Geographic Atlas of the World, human interpretation and
draftsmanship have been raised to an entirely new level by cartographic tools inconceivable to former
mapmakers. Satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS) and a steady stream of other satellite data
allows to generate amazingly precise and details portraits of the planet, without ever touching a pen to
paper. Powerful new computer software programs called Geographic Information Systems (GIS), selects,
analyze and layer data to depict the complicated, interlocking forces at work on the ground - from geologic
conditions to human migration to environmental change. There were more than 15,000 updates to the map
plates in this edition. They reflect the political, social, and environmental upheavals that have occurred in
six years since the 7th edition was published.
R JF 1525.I6 .En19 2005 v.2
This encyclopedia contains more history than fresh exposes of government secrets. The volumes
cover intelligence and counterintelligence worldwide in the 20th century. In keeping with the stated editorial
preference for a biographical and historical, rather than a theoretical, approach, the entries primarily concern
individuals and countries. A timeline of intelligence, beginning with the Battle of Kadesh in 1294 B.C.E. and
concluding with the report from the 9/11 Commission is reflected in the first volume. The second volume
contains a resource guide as well as excerpts from the 9/11 Commission report.
Arquette, Kerry and Rueger, Lydia, eds. 501 great scrapbook page ideas: a gallery of
themes and inspiration from A to Z. Denver, CO: Memory Makers Books, c2005.
R TR 465 .F586 2005
When it comes to page ideas, scrapbookers can't seem to get enough. In this dynamic
guide, scrapbookers will be delighted to find more than 500 top-notch scrapbook pages, providing
inspiration and ideas in action; a range of fresh examples that will appeal to beginners and advanced
scrap bookers alike; and hems that span the alphabet from A (animals) to B (birthdays) C (Couples
in love) D (dirt) and on through Z (zoo). Jam-packed with fresh, never before published scrapbook
pages, this sourcebook is a must-have for every avid scrapbook artist.
Harper, Kristine. The Mount St. Helen's volcanic eruptions. New York: Facts on File, c2005.
R QE 523.S23 .H232 2005
As part of the environmental disasters series, this work is a very detailed, clearly written
and interesting account of the Mount St. Helen's eruptions. Like other books in the said series, it
analyzes the role of people, both in contributing to and recovering from disaster. The book also
explains how and why volcanoes form and erupt around the world. It presents the story of the
deadliest volcanic eruption ever to occur in the United States as well as its immediate and long-term
effects on both people and nature.
This book covers the incidents that happened before, during and after the eruption. The
information about the said eruption also included observations from 1980 to 2004. The author did a
very good start by acquainting the readers about volcanoes in general. What is very significant about
this material is the fact that it presents the positive and negative effects of eruption. It even features
new life after the eruption, which informs readers that volcanic eruptions do not only create loss or
danger.
