15 4 The Institution shall be responsible <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> local trjmsportatlon <strong>of</strong> team members and <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir hotel<br />

expenses during <strong>the</strong> period Also <strong>the</strong> Institution s all provide team members w h light refreshments<br />

and teaduring <strong>the</strong> working sessions Timeand ef<strong>for</strong>t may be saved Iflunch Is arranged In agood hotel<br />

or cafeteria nearest to <strong>the</strong> Instkutlon or wkhln <strong>the</strong> Illstltution This will give team members more time<br />

to do a thorough job<br />

15 5 The Institution shall render any assistance that teamimembers may require to facilitate <strong>the</strong>irwork during<br />

<strong>the</strong> period<br />

15 6 The exit Interview should be attended by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Re</strong>ctor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institution <strong>the</strong> head <strong>of</strong> department where<br />

<strong>the</strong> programmeto be accredited Is <strong>of</strong>fered and key teaching staff who have responsibilities <strong>for</strong> various<br />

aspects <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> programme<br />

After <strong>the</strong> Visit<br />

15 7 A copy <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> report shall be made available to<strong>the</strong> Rlletor The Instllutlon shall comment on statement<br />

<strong>of</strong> facts contained In <strong>the</strong> team s report highlighting areas <strong>of</strong> agreement and disagreement wllh <strong>the</strong><br />

report<br />

15 8 The Institution shall ensure that <strong>the</strong> accredllation status Is warranted by continua Improvement on <strong>the</strong><br />

accredited programme<br />

15 9 An Instllution whose programme Is denied accredlta110n may appeal against <strong>the</strong> decision <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> Board<br />

on <strong>the</strong> matter W he chooses Such appeal should r ach <strong>the</strong> Executive Secretary National Board <strong>for</strong><br />

Technical Education P M B 2239 Kaduna within thirty days from <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> letter conveying <strong>the</strong><br />

Board s decision to <strong>the</strong> Institution Appeal procedur Is explain In Appendix E<br />

16 0 APPEAL PROCEDURE<br />

16 1 An Institution may appeal against an adverse decision <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Board <strong>for</strong> Technical Education<br />

denying II an Initial accredllatlon or re accredltatlon status<strong>for</strong> Its programme s<br />

16 2 The appeal process shall be as follows<br />

a The <strong>Re</strong>ctor Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Institution shall provide <strong>the</strong> Board wlth n thirty 30 days <strong>of</strong> notification <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Board s decision on <strong>the</strong> matter awritten statement which must address failure to comply wllh<br />

<strong>the</strong> evaluative criteria laid down In <strong>the</strong> Board s <strong>Guidelines</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Re</strong> Accrediting Diploma <strong>Programmes</strong><br />

In Polytechnics and Similar Tertiary Instllutlons<br />

b The Board shall arrange a hearing panel consisting <strong>of</strong> three qualWled persons to consider <strong>the</strong><br />

appeal The composition <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> panel shall nclude<br />

I one representative <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional bodies or association related to <strong>the</strong> programme W<br />

any<br />

II one representative <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> polytechnics<br />

ill a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Board <strong>for</strong> Technical Education<br />

Iv arepresentative <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board s Secretariat<br />

c At Its first meeting <strong>the</strong> hearing panel shall<br />

v elect Its Chairman from among members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> panel<br />

vi determine <strong>the</strong> schedule and general procedures <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> appeal<br />

vII determine <strong>the</strong> date and locat on <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> hearing but this should not be later than thirty 30<br />

days after <strong>the</strong><br />

notlflcatlon1f request <strong>for</strong> heating and shall so In<strong>for</strong>m all parties concerned<br />

d At <strong>the</strong> first meeting <strong>the</strong> Board shall provide panel members with a copy <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> site visit report <strong>the</strong><br />

Instltut on s self study questionnaire <strong>the</strong> letter to <strong>the</strong> Institution rejecting <strong>the</strong> Board s action and<br />

<strong>the</strong> request <strong>for</strong> a hearing which states <strong>the</strong> grounqs <strong>for</strong> appeal The panel shall however have full<br />

access to all documents and records filed with <strong>the</strong> Board by <strong>the</strong> appellant institution during <strong>the</strong><br />

accreditation process<br />
