for choosing <strong>Deumer</strong>‘s unique system of bespoke cufflinks. All cufflinks are handmade in Germany.<br />
By only using our own in-house workshops, we are able to offer this concept for the price of our regular<br />
retail line plus shipping. Delivery time depends on the season of the year and varies between 10 and<br />
15 working days.<br />
This step by step manual makes it easy for you to design with or for your customer his or her<br />
individual unique pair of cufflinks.<br />

Good to know: All <strong>Deumer</strong> cufflinks are made of 925 Sterling silver. Additionally we offer the Vermeil<br />
version, i.e. Sterling silver, 5 micron hard-gold-plated. Upon request we also offer cufflinks in 14 / 18<br />
karat gold. Please contact us for prices and specifications.
step 1: shape, sterling silver or vermeil<br />
There is no fixed sequence for the design of cufflinks. Here shapes are decided first: The decision<br />
for the shape is very often made subconsciously and goes with the type of person. The shape of the<br />
glasses, the watch, the belt-buckle will give a good hint.<br />
The decision for plain sterling silver or additional hard-gold-plating is taken quite the same way.<br />
Somebody is a ,silver-‘ person or a ,gold‘ person, often to be seen at the glasses, rings or watch.<br />
A general rule of thumb: During the day for general course of business rather Silver; at night and<br />
with formal wear Vermeil, maybe with a stone or dark blue inlay.
step 2: colours, stones or plain, one- or double sided<br />
Colourful or plain? If colourful, the choice is between 12 vitreous enamel colours and 6 semi precious<br />
stones. This decision not only has to be made for the frontside, but also for the ,button‘, i.e.<br />
the smaller circle, that will ,button‘ through the shirt.<br />
The very classic cufflink had no colors and was made of sterling silver, Vermeil or 14 / 18 carat<br />
gold. Today, black onyx or white mother of pearl is also always right. But the favourite colour, a<br />
match with the shirt or the tie, equal or different colours for each side? Sailors for example, very<br />
often like to choose green for starboard right and red for port left. Lucky everybody can own more<br />
then one pair of cufflinks.<br />
Originally, cufflinks always had two sides: A whale-tale type of fixture would often provoke the<br />
question if its owner could not afford the second side (which may well have been the case). Therefore:<br />
if possible, always have the ,backside‘ designed, too.<br />
Tip: If light vitreous enamel colours are used, initials can be engraved underneath. Light colours are<br />
light green, light blue, white, light grey, yellow or pink. An engraving underneath the vitreous enamel<br />
is visual proof for a bespoke cufflink.
step 3: engravings<br />
Engravings are a very nice way to add individual style. <strong>Deumer</strong> offers four different fonts.<br />
Font 1 and 4 are considered as more classic, font 2 and 3 a bit more modern. Up to three letters<br />
per cufflink are included. They can be on the frontside or the back of the ‘button‘, on metal or<br />
underneath the lighter shades of vitreous enamel.<br />

Not only initials but also family crests or company logos can be engraved. In order to do so, please<br />
provide vectorized data. Since the price will vary, please get in contact with us.
step 4: the presentation box<br />
All cufflinks come in a very nice black piano-lacquer style presentation box.<br />
IMPORTANT: Once you received the sample set, you can order a first pair of bespoke cufflinks<br />
according to your design FREE OF CHARGE. Please use a copy of the orderform (price-list). You<br />
receive this first „trial-order“in the presentation box. It is ment for display in your show-room.
step 5: pricing and ordering<br />
Once the new pair of cufflinks is designed, they need to be ordered: Please use a copy of the pricelist<br />

1. The shape comes first: from left to right (please see pictures) square, rectangular, small oval,<br />
long oval, crest or round.<br />
2. If not mentioned otherwise, the cufflinks will be plain 925 sterling silver. Additional hard-<br />
gold-plating must be checked.<br />
3. Vitreous enamels and semi precious stones. Please indicate the colour of the vitreous enamel<br />
or the stone. If the backside remains plain only the colours or stones for the frontside have to<br />
be filled in. Different colours for each cufflinks and or front and back are possible.<br />
4. Engravings can be chosen for the front- or backside similar or different for each cufflink.<br />
