Today’s <strong>The</strong>me Like Abraham, our father <strong>in</strong> faith,<br />
we are called by God to a new homeland. We are<br />
not to rest <strong>in</strong> the material comforts of this world, but<br />
to move onwards towards the land of promise, where<br />
the Lord <strong>in</strong> whom we put our faith will transfigure our<br />

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL REPORT<br />
<strong>The</strong> PPC met on Wednesday, 13 February.<br />
Frs. John and Xavier and Sue Coghlan,<br />
new Assistant Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal, Religious Identity<br />
and Mission (APRIM) for St. Raphael’s<br />
School, were welcomed on to the Council.<br />
Preparation was made to undertake the<br />
Parish census. <strong>The</strong> PPC is develop<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
calendar to assist plann<strong>in</strong>g dates for<br />
various groups with<strong>in</strong> the community. A<br />
communication sub-committee has been<br />
established to review the effectiveness of<br />
communication with<strong>in</strong> the parish. Over the<br />
last six months several long stand<strong>in</strong>g PPC<br />
members have completed their terms.<br />
Dur<strong>in</strong>g the next few months, the PPC will<br />
be look<strong>in</strong>g to recruit new members. Please<br />
consider whether this is a m<strong>in</strong>istry with<strong>in</strong><br />
the Parish that you could assist.<br />
On Saturday, 16 March the Parish will<br />
formally welcome Frs. John and Xavier<br />
to the Parish, and Frs. Rick and Joseph,<br />
along with the eight novices, to the<br />
Novitiate.<br />
This will be a BYO everyth<strong>in</strong>g social<br />
gather<strong>in</strong>g at 7pm <strong>in</strong> the lawn area at the<br />
<strong>Monastery</strong>. Everyone most welcome.<br />

LENTEN EXPERIENCE<br />
Two opportunities are available to enrich<br />
our <strong>Lent</strong>en experience. Gospel Reflections<br />
groups will be held at St. Oswald’s Anglican<br />
Church, Parkside, Wednesdays, 10.30am -<br />
noon, and at the Sebastian Centre 7.30pm<br />
- 8.30pm, Tuesday even<strong>in</strong>gs. <strong>The</strong>se<br />
reflections <strong>in</strong>vite us to explore the follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>Sunday</strong>s Gospel read<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
PASSIONIST COMPANIONS<br />
<strong>The</strong> next meet<strong>in</strong>g of the Passionist<br />
Companions will be held on Friday,<br />
1 March, at 7.30pm.<br />

STATIONS OF THE CROSS<br />
Every Friday dur<strong>in</strong>g the season of <strong>Lent</strong>,<br />
Stations of the Cross will be held <strong>in</strong> the<br />
Sacred Garden after the 7am Mass, and <strong>in</strong><br />
the even<strong>in</strong>g at 5.45pm.<br />
GOOD FRIDAY - SACRED GARDEN<br />
29 March, <strong>2013</strong><br />
We are look<strong>in</strong>g for prayer guides (kits<br />
provided), group supervisors (for the<br />
entrance to the Sacred Garden), hospitality<br />
(serv<strong>in</strong>g coffee and bitter herb bread), and<br />
park<strong>in</strong>g monitors.<br />
Rosters are at the entrance of the church.<br />
