Solutions
multiBic ® – bicarbonate-buffered haemofiltration solutions
Larger, quieter, more convenient:
When time is of the essence, every convenience helps.
For example, the new multiBic ® double chamber bag
with diagonal peel-seam for simpler handling. Thanks
to 11% more content, the new 5 litre multiBic ® doesn’t
need to be changed so often – leaving more time for
other tasks. The improved gas barrier helps to keep the
ready-to-use bicarbonate solution stable for longer so
that the infusion of the patient can last up to 48 hours.
The new 5 litre multiBic ® at a glance:
• Mixing the two components provides
100% bicarbonate-buffered haemofiltration solution
• Always the right solution
thanks to 4 different potassium concentrations
• Fewer bag changes
thanks to 11% more content
• Increased solution stability, usable for up to 48 hrs. thanks to the improved gas barrier
• Simpler handling
thanks to the bag geometry with diagonal peel-seam
• PVC, latex and DEHP-free, environmentally friendly thanks to use of “Biofine” material
• Quieter
thanks to the packaging’s softer, sound-reduced foil
• Improved monitoring
through the clear, transparent foil
• Easier transport
thanks to the new, comfortable handle
• Suitable for almost all common CRRT appliances thanks to the bag eyelets and connectors
• Addition of medication possible
thanks to the injection port
Haemofiltration dependent contraindications due to the technical procedure itself:
– Renal failure with increased hypercatabolism in cases where uraemic symptoms
can no longer be relieved by haemofiltration.
– Inadequate blood flow from vascular access.
– If there is a high risk of haemorrhage on account of systemic anticoagulation.
multiBic ® potassium-free/2/3/4 mmol/L potassium is delivered in a doublechamber
bag. One chamber (large compartment) contains the alkaline hydrogen
Ci-Ca Solutions
Citrate anticoagulation for CRRT – A beneficial system:
• clearly reduced risk of bleeding
• prolonged filter life-spans
• Successful treatments of patients with HIT II
The advantage of the Ci-Ca method is that it acts exclu-
sively in the extracorporeal circuit making this method
specifically attractive for intensive care patients and
patients at risk of bleeding.
Ci-Ca Dialysate K2 and Ci-Ca Dialysate K4
The major role in regional citrate anticoagulation is
assigned to the calcium-free Ci-Ca Dialysate.
• two different potassium concentrations allow the
adaption to the patient´s requirements
• 5 L double chamber bag for safe and convenient
Indications:
1. End stage chronic renal disease (decompensation) of all origins
2. Acute renal failure not accompanied by hypercatabolism
3. Cardiac insufficiency not easily influenced by medicaments and caused by
hyperhydratation
4. Acute states of intoxication caused by non-protein-bound poisons; use either
alone or in conjunction with other detoxication measures (haemodialysis,
peritoneal dialysis and/or haemoperfusion)
5. Metabolic disturbance resulting from end stage chronic renal failure
Contraindications:
Contraindications caused by the treatment:
1. Acute renal failure accompanied by marked hypercatabolic conditions in cases
where uraemic symptoms can no longer be relieved by haemofiltration
2. Insufficient blood flow from the shunt
3. Recent cerebral or internal (parenchymatous) haemorrhages
Contraindications caused by the solution:
HF 11:
1. Hypokalaemia
2. Impairment of lactate metabolism/lactate acidosis
HF 12, HF 23, HF 24:
1. Hypokalaemia
2. Hypercalcemia
3. Impairment of lactate metabolism/lactate acidosis
Note:
HF 11, HF 12, HF 23:
In cases of marked hyperhydration and marked dehydration (high ultrafiltration),
it is advisable to use a solution with a higher sodium content, taking into
account the serum sodium concentration of the patient.
HF 11, 12:
In diabetic patients receiving insulin, the dose of insulin should be adjusted as
appropriate for the glucose content of the haemofiltration solution.
Side effects:
None have been observed up to the present.
Warnings and precautions:
Do not store above +25°C. Do not use unless solution is clear and the container
is undamaged.
flows
• Soft catheter tip – minimises the risk of vascular
lesions upon catheter placement
• Excellent kinking stability
• Optimal range of application: blood flows between
150 mL/min and 400 mL/min
Standard double lumen catheter
• Contralaterally arranged inlet and outlet ports
reduce recirculation
• Optimal range of application: blood flows up to
