number of requests by <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ind<strong>on</strong>esia</str<strong>on</strong>g>ns for BOSTID publicati<strong>on</strong>s, approximately<br />

3,000 per m<strong>on</strong>th. BOSTID could not possibly resp<strong>on</strong>d to all these<br />

requests, because <strong>on</strong>ly a limited number of copies of BOSTID reports are<br />

available <strong>and</strong> because there are no means of determ<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g><str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g the legitimacy<br />

<strong>and</strong> appropriateness of the requests. Dur<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g the discussi<strong>on</strong>s it was<br />

suggested that LIPI's Nati<strong>on</strong>al Scientific Documentati<strong>on</strong> Center (PDIN)<br />

might be able to distribute BOSTID reports. Such an arrangement would<br />

not <strong>on</strong>ly provide outreach to the scientific community but would also<br />

enable the reports to reach the appropriate libraries <strong>and</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>dividuals<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ind<strong>on</strong>esia</str<strong>on</strong>g>.<br />

After negotiati<strong>on</strong>s with Dr. Did<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sastrapradja, deputy chairman for<br />

natural sciences, LIPI, <strong>and</strong> Ms. Luwarsih Pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>ggoadisurjo, director of<br />

PDIN, the follow<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g arrangements were made:<br />

• BOSTID would send a complete set of its available reports to<br />

the PDIN for <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>formati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> their bibliographic records.<br />

• BOSTID would furnish a supply of current reports <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> pr<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>t <strong>and</strong><br />

thereafter would forward all requests from <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ind<strong>on</strong>esia</str<strong>on</strong>g> to the<br />

PDIN for acti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

• A notice would be <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>serted <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> each future publicati<strong>on</strong> stat<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g<br />

that residents of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Ind<strong>on</strong>esia</str<strong>on</strong>g> could request copies directly from<br />

the PDIN.<br />

Approximately 200-300 copies of each of the follow<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g BOSTID reports<br />

were shipped to the PDIN for distributi<strong>on</strong>:<br />
