CHAPTER THREE
METHODOLOGY
This chapter gives the general overview of the research methodology adopted for the study. This
area covers the research design, research population, sampling techniques, data collection
methods and the data analysis.
3.1Research Design
Research designs are concerned with turning the research question into a testing project. The best
design depends on the research questions. Every design has its positive and negative sides.
Research design has been considered as a “blueprint” for research, dealing with at least four
problems: what questions to study, what data are relevant, what data to collect, and how to
analyze the results. (Westgard et al. 1998)
The research type and approach adopted for this study is exploratory, analytical and qualitative
analysis. This is adopted because of the already existing facts. Exiting information will make the
work easy for analysis.
The research instruments used as a data collection tool for the study includes; self administered
questionnaires and interviews. With regards to the questionnaires, both structured and
unstructured types were used for the study.
The design of the questionnaires was mixed with both open and closed ended types of questions.
This is so because, some of the questions required the respondents to give additional information
and others demanded specific answers. Apart from the questionnaires used, interviews were also
conducted as a collection tool to obtain information. Both structured and semi structured
interview questionnaires was designed for the study.
