The Public History Track at <strong>UMBC</strong> admits graduate students<br />

twice a year. The program <strong>of</strong>fers students an <strong>MA</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>Historical</strong> Studies with a specialized track <strong>in</strong> public history.<br />

Students have the opportunity to work on projects and<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternships with a variety <strong>of</strong> museums, government<br />

agencies, historical societies and contractors <strong>in</strong> the greater<br />

<strong>Baltimore</strong>‐Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, DC, area. <strong>UMBC</strong> also <strong>of</strong>fers students<br />

an opportunity for specialized tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> oral history and<br />

digitial storytell<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Who arranges <strong>in</strong>ternships? The Director <strong>of</strong> the Public History Program works with <strong>in</strong>dividual students to arrange <strong>in</strong>ternships<br />

Who evaluates <strong>in</strong>ternship? What are the criteria for evaluation? Students must submit an <strong>in</strong>terim report and a f<strong>in</strong>al reflective<br />

paper to their <strong>in</strong>ternship adviser (a pr<strong>of</strong>essor from the program) as well as a copy <strong>of</strong> the project completed dur<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>ternship.<br />
