SEATTLE – January 17, <str<strong>on</strong>g>2013</str<strong>on</strong>g> – Laugh away the w<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>ter blues <str<strong>on</strong>g>with</str<strong>on</strong>g> P.G. Wodehouse’s<br />

classic characters <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Bloom</str<strong>on</strong>g>, open<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g at <str<strong>on</strong>g>Taproot</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Theatre</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> February 1. Peace.<br />

Tranquility. The English countryside. Then Bertie Wooster pays a visit. While duck<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g<br />

romance, flee<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g a cleaver-wield<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g chef and burgl<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g his uncle, Bertie’s trail of mischief<br />

and mayhem is set right by his unflappable valet, <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g>. Based <strong>on</strong> characters created by<br />

author P.G. Wodehouse, this c<strong>on</strong>fecti<strong>on</strong>ary treat is a delightful respite from the daily<br />

gr<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>d. Associate Artistic Director Karen Lund directs Margaret Raether’s adaptati<strong>on</strong> of<br />

P.G. Wodehouse’s stories. <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Bloom</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>opens</str<strong>on</strong>g> February 1 and runs through March 2,<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>with</str<strong>on</strong>g> previews <strong>on</strong> January 30 and 31.<br />

Wodehouse’s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> series is c<strong>on</strong>sidered by many to be some of the most humorous<br />

writ<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> the English language. The characters rose <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> popularity and were made<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>famous <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> the 1990’s BBC comedy series, <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> and Wooster, starr<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g Hugh Laurie<br />

and Stephen Fry. The <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> character also <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>spired the phrase “right ho, <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g>” and<br />

the <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>ternet search eng<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>e, askjeeves.com. Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse was a<br />

master of English prose who was admired by his c<strong>on</strong>temporaries and successors alike.<br />

The fact that his stories are go<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g str<strong>on</strong>g after nearly 100 years is proof that P.G.<br />

Wodehouse is an English language parag<strong>on</strong> of humor, so it is no w<strong>on</strong>der that when<br />

Margaret Raether first encountered Wodehouse’s The Code of the Woosters <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> college<br />

she was <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>spired. Raether is a found<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g member of Artists’ Ensemble <str<strong>on</strong>g>Theatre</str<strong>on</strong>g> and spent<br />

two <str<strong>on</strong>g>seas<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g>s as Playwright <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> Residence at New American Theater. Raether’s adaptati<strong>on</strong><br />

of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Bloom</str<strong>on</strong>g> first premiered <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> September of 2009 at Artists’ Ensemble <str<strong>on</strong>g>Theatre</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Ill<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>ois. Other producti<strong>on</strong>s of this script were mounted at First Folio <str<strong>on</strong>g>Theatre</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> Chicago<br />

and Old Log Theater <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> M<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>neapolis.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Taproot</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Theatre</str<strong>on</strong>g>’s producti<strong>on</strong> of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Bloom</str<strong>on</strong>g> is directed by Associate Artistic<br />

Director Karen Lund and features Matt Shimkus as <str<strong>on</strong>g>Jeeves</str<strong>on</strong>g> and Aar<strong>on</strong> Lamb as Bertie<br />

Wooster, accompanied by the talented Marianna de Fazio, Stephen Grenley, Parker<br />

Matthews, Kim Morris and Randy Scholz. The producti<strong>on</strong> team <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>cludes scenic and<br />

sound designer Mark Lund, costume designer Sarah Burch Gord<strong>on</strong> and light<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g designer<br />

Roberta Russell. Micah Lynn Trapp serves as stage manager, Christ<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>e Marie Brown as<br />
