Leaves slowly fall as you stroll down a wooded footpath.<br />
The sounds and colours of autumn awake the senses.<br />
Puffs of wind blow through the trees, intensifying<br />
a light chill in the air. A patchwork of mossy greens,<br />
burnt oranges and myriad shades of brown create<br />
an impressionist atmosphere. This is the inspiration<br />

CrAFtsmAnsHIP<br />
each pair of our shoes pays homage to a bygone era—a time<br />
when handmade shoes were the standard. In this mass-<br />
produced, ‘I need it yesterday’ world, J SHoeS takes the<br />
time to design, engineer and handcraft shoes that please the<br />
eye and comfort the sole.<br />
J SHoeS is committed to the philosophy of continual<br />

and trials go in to perfecting our uppers and handmade sole<br />
units. our leathers and fabrics are sourced around the globe,<br />
selected for their one-of-a-kind colours and textures—all of<br />
which contribute to the originality of each pair of our shoes.<br />
our team of highly trained craftsmen elevate shoemaking to<br />

the detailed hand work that is done by our skilled craftsman.<br />
CuttInG<br />
Cutting the upper. The upper patterns are placed on top of the leather with one hand, the other hand cuts<br />
the leather using a knife following the shape of the pattern. These will be reduced, receive reinforcements<br />
and be stitched together to form the shoe uppers.

PerFeCtInG mAterIAls<br />
one stage of perfecting materials—reducing the thickness of the leather edges so all visible edges of the shoe<br />
upper have the exact same thickness.<br />
stItCHInG<br />
Stitching the upper to the lining—this takes very skilled and coordinated hands & eyes to ensure the<br />
distance between the stitching line and the upper edges are maintained throughout every pair.

sOle desIGns<br />
Pre-buffing the edges of a handmade outsole—this highly skilled free-hand operation requires the<br />
craftsman to stop when the sand paper touches the welt, if the sand paper digs into the welt the<br />
whole sole is lost.<br />
FInIsHInG<br />
Heat setting the shoe upper—this ensures the upper is molded onto the shape of the shoe last. These will<br />
go through a cold tunnel to “set” the uppers and move on to the burnishing station.
