Board Member/Course Designer/Instructor.
Conceptualize, design, and prototype new doctoral program for approval of Colorado Higher
Learning Commission. Teach and design 30+ graduate online courses to high student
satisfaction, including educational technology, educational law and policy, curriculum and
literacy. Students are worldwide, and most are inservice educators. Awarded 2007 Faculty

Manage start-up of two virtual independent-study charter schools for K-9 students,
authorized by San Diego City Schools and San Juan Capistrano School District, including
writing charter proposal and obtaining charters, establishing policy, hiring management
company, negotiating with districts, and recruiting teaching staff and students. School spans
four counties in southern California. Primary liaison to Board of Directors, school district
for charter oversight, and Connections Academy corporate staff. Also coordinate the
moderators for the student message board, which serves 7000 children in ten states, and the
schools’ community-building activities (newsletter, field trips, message boards). Managed
growth of school from inception to over 400 students in 18 months.

small community afforded me many rewarding contacts with families -- teaching brothers
and sisters in successive years, helping non-English speaking students integrate into the
school, and sponsoring the swimming club. During my classroom career I participated in
a state program review, designing a district-wide scope and sequence, and served on
several district curriculum committees.

Group Director -- Learning First Operations Directed five departments of over 70
staff, and annual budget over 4 million. Personally responsible for designing and
implementing a successful strategic plan for the on-going development of a multimedia
line of educational software, supporting management systems, documentation and
associated publications. This position managed the positions below, held previously.
Group Director -- Product Enhancement and Corporate Partnerships Directed staff
which built relationships with other software publishers, including Microsoft, IBM, the
Learning Company. Administered grants totaling $5 million from National Science
Foundation, California Department of Education, Florida Department of Education.
Responsible for the design of all improvements to language arts, math, science and early
childhood software products. Directed staff that evaluated and acquired the rights to
products from other software publishers, including copyrights and permissions.
Personally designed on-line assessment tests and supervised department responsible for
computerized evaluation of all curriculum, placement tests, and diagnostic inventories.
Program Director -- Home Learning Systems Designed and built computer products
which students and parents use in their homes to complement their school programs.
Manager -- State Instructional Programs Customized computer product to state
mandated tests. Required knowledge of criterion referenced and normed tests, strong
testing ethics and close relationship with state level officials in New York, Florida,
Missouri, and Texas.
Educational Consultant Responsible for the design and delivery of training to insure
educational innovations are successful in schools. Extensive platform speaking
experience using multimedia support. Conducted several televised training programs.
Designed and conducted experimental studies to determine program effectiveness.
