Musicians, Singers, Dancers, Entertainers: Introduction
Throughout the century, a great deal of music was performed at the Adelphi. Full-scale singing
performances such as operas and operettas are entered as titles, and performers in these pieces will be
found in the actors and actresses index. When music and song occur within or between pieces, the
performers are listed in the index of musicians, singers, dancers and entertainers.
Dancing was also very popular at the Adelphi. All dancers taking part in ballets will be found in the actors
and actresses index, but those taking part in dances integral to a piece or within the interludes are listed
here.
Special entertainments or spectacles sometimes took place in pieces or interludes. If a participant was
given credit for these, his or her name is included in this index.
