Miss Arathy V, a nineteen year old girl from Kerela, was diagnosed with Acute Promylocytic
Leukemia (APML) at the Regional Cancer Centre, Tiruvananthapurum. Her fathers is a driver
and mother a homemaker. With another daughter to look after, the parents were rapidly loosing
all hope. The support of Rs. 70,000 from the Kerela State Govt. was woefully inadequate. By
receiving the balance from our CCF there was total transformation for the family. Today the
treatment is progressing as planned and Arathy is doing fine. She and her family are grateful to
ICS's CCF for all the help and pray to God for a speedy recovery.
Mr. Rajendra Vilas Jagtap, a twenty two year old male from Maharashtra was diagnosed with
Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in October 2011. Counseling from the social workers strengthened
his belief in God. He initially mortgaged his wife’s jewelry - but that only covered the cost of his
investigations. It was only after the sanction of Rs. 3, 00,000 from ICS’s CCF that his treatment
could be commenced at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He is now doing so well that he has
resumed working as a peon in a transport company. He calls ICS regularly to give a follow up of
his medical status.
Miss Urmilaben Prajapati, another nineteen year old girl from Rajasthan was diagnosed with
childhood type of solid tumor, PNET. Her father works as a laborer in a construction site and has
an annual income of just Rs. 30,000. Spending Rs. 2.2 lacs for her treatment was impossibility.
Thanks to ICS's CCF, she started treatment at Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, Ahmedabad.
She underwent surgery followed by chemotherapy. Today she is doing so well, that her
father is always smiling. He said “I am too small to talk to big people but I do want to thank ICS
and all the doctors for this great help!”
