Gold Awards<br />

Many congratulations to Kiera Manku Y3 who is the<br />

first child in the school this year to receive a Gold<br />

Star. This was actually achieved last week but too<br />

late to go in the newsletter. Congratulations also<br />

to Phoebe Williams (Y2) and Kiran Patel (Y3) who<br />

received their Gold Awards this week.<br />

Bookmark Competition<br />

Many congratulations to Elise Stringfellow (Y4),<br />

Luca Baker (Y2), Hugo Stone (Y1) and Elliott<br />

Mitchell (YR) on their winning designs for the<br />

bookmark competition held during Book Week.<br />

They each received a book token as a prize.<br />

Crystal Palace Cross Country Championship –<br />

Very well done to our 36 runners, who all<br />

completed the course and contributed to <strong>Keston</strong><br />

being placed 4 th the Small <strong>School</strong>s’ Cup.<br />

Well done to everyone, without you all we would<br />

not have made the team event.<br />

Generally there were about 400 runners in each<br />

race, so well done to EVERYONE! Well done to Y4<br />

boys who arranged their football match to take<br />

place after cross country -<br />

With over 33 schools teams represented, our Y3/4<br />

boys’ team finished 5 th - A fantastic result which is<br />

2 places up on November!. Many runners improved<br />

on their times from previously and a special<br />

accolade to William Maclaren who has run for<br />

<strong>Keston</strong> in every single event since Y3. He achieved<br />

his best score ever at 208 since Y3. Thank you and<br />

well done William! Congratulations too to Luke<br />

Beverly Jackson and Jamie Le Masurier who have<br />

attended all but one event since Y3.<br />

Once again we were very fortunate with the<br />

weather. Many thanks to the parents for<br />

supporting this event and especially to Mrs Leng<br />

for marshalling. – Thank you also to Miss Glew and<br />

Miss Arthur.<br />

<strong>Keston</strong> Swimmers<br />

Well done to Rosie Kelly who is the 5 th fastest 10<br />

yr old at 50m freestyle in Kent. Also<br />

congratulations to Alexia Jackson who is currently<br />

the fastest 9 yr old in Kent at 50m butterfly.<br />

Sophie Frampton wins Short-Story<br />

Competition<br />

Well done to Sophie Frampton Y5 who won a local<br />

Short story competition. It was so fantastic that<br />

I read it to the school today. Well done!


Comic Relief<br />

Thank you to everyone for supporting this<br />

fantastic cause. We’ve raised over £200!<br />

Disco<br />

The Children’s disco is NEXT FRIDAY 22nd March<br />

2013. Tickets are £5 on the door. KS1 5-6.15pm,<br />

KS2 6.30-8.00pm. We have enough helpers for the<br />

first Disco but if anyone would like to help on the<br />

KS2 disco – from 6.30pm your help would be much<br />

appreciated. Please call Katherine on 07850<br />

Eggstravganza Competition: Thurs 28 th<br />

March<br />

Reception and Y1 and Y2 are invited to make by<br />

themselves (or very little adult help) an Easter<br />

bonnet/ hat to be paraded in school on the last<br />

day of term.<br />

Y3/4 Blown Egg Character, and Y5/6 Design and<br />

build an egg mobile, not using construction kits to<br />

carry a cream egg the furthest.<br />

Hats, Egg -characters and Egg-mobiles to be<br />

bought to school on Thursday 28 th March. Girl and<br />

Boy Prizes given for each category.<br />
