MARRIAGE
Arrangements should be made with a priest as
soon as possible. One year prior to marriage
or as soon as Engagement is announced is
recommended.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK
In the event of serious illness or when someone is
hospitalized, the parish office should be notified. The
Eucharist and the Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated
with anyone requesting them. Remember, the Hospital cannot
notify us on their own.
YOUTH MINISTRY
The Youth Mass is at 9:30 AM on Sundays and “Get-A-Grip,”
grades 7-12, meets for Liturgy of the Word during the Mass
on the first Sunday of the month. Youth in grades 9-12 meet
at scheduled intervals.

CHOIR
We are fortunate enough to have a Parish Choir that has a full
multi-lingual repertoire, as well as a Junior Choir . The Choir
rehearses on Thursday at 7:30 PM, and the Junior Choir on
Wednesday at 7:40 PM., following Religious Education Class.
Instrumentalists are welcomed, either to play solo or with our
choir. A parish orchestra made up of children and adults
rehearses and performs several times during the year. For
more information, or to volunteer, please call John or Martha
Nowik after Mass or at the Parish Office.

the parish office and make an appointment to register. When you

First Reading: Genesis 14:18- 20
Melchizedek, a priest of God, prayed that Abram
would be blessed by God. He also praised God for
delivering Abram's foes into his hands.
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23- 26
Paul describes Jesus' actions during the last supper.
Jesus broke bread and said it was his body given for
us, asking that we do the same in remembrance of
him. He then passed the cup and called it his blood.
Jesus then asked us to break bread in this manner to
remember his death until he returns.
Gospel: Luke 9:11b-17
Jesus spoke to a large crowd when his disciples
asked that he dismiss the people to give them a
chance to find food and lodging. Jesus asked the
disciples to give the crowd something to eat, but they
had only five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus
then blessed and distributed the food, which fed
about 5,000 people. Twelve baskets were then
collected from what was left over.

Sakrament Chrztu Świętego
Udzielany jest we wszystkie niedziele roku. Rodzice wraz
z chrzestnymi powinni uczestniczyć w nauce przed chrztem dziecka,
na którą należy uprzednio się umówić.
Duszpasterstwo chorych
Prosimy o powiadamianie parafii o tych, którzy z powodu wieku czy
choroby - na stałe czy czasowo - skazani są na pobyt w domu, lub w
szpitalu i nie mogą uczestniczyć w liturgii Mszy Świętej w kościele.
Chcemy ich odwiedzać, zanosić komunię świętą, służyć spowiedzią,
czy sakramentem chorych.
Sakrament Małżeństwa
Narzeczeni zamierzający przyjąć ten sakrament powinni zgłosić się do
księdza na rok wcześniej, aby odbyć odpowiednie przygotowanie.
Katechizacja
Rodzice dzieci w wieku szkolnym zobowiązani są do posyłania ich na
katechizację w ciągu roku szkolnego. Istnieje też możliwość nauki dla
dzieci przedszkolnych. Katechizacja odbywa się w środy każdego
tygodnia w godzinach od 6:30 do 7:40PM.
Katechumenat (RCIA)
Także dorośli, którzy chcieliby przyjąć sakramenty inicjacji
chrześcijańskiej (chrzest, bierzmowanie, eucharystię) powinni odbyć
odpowiednie przygotowanie.
Spotkania młodzieży
Młodzież klas 9-12 spotyka się w pierwsze niedziele miesiąca na mszy
świętej o godz. 9:30AM, w czasie której ma specjalną liturgię słowa.
Inne spotkania według ustalanego rozkładu.
Liturgia Słowa dla dzieci
Odbywa się ona w każdą niedzielę roku szkolnego podczas mszy
świętych w języku polskim lub w języku angielskim. Prosimy o
zgłaszanie dzieci do udziału w tej formie katechizacji.
Chóry parafialne
W naszej parafii działa Chór Parafialny śpiewający repertuar
wielojęzyczny oraz Chór Dziecięcy. Prosimy chętnych - zarówno dzieci
jak i dorosłych - o zaangażowanie się w tę działalność. Mile widziane
są osoby grające na instrumentach.
Próby prowadzą Państwo Martha i John Novik a odbywają się
w środy po lekcjach religii, chór dziecięcy a w czwartki, o godz.
7:30PM chór dorosłych.
Szkoła Polska
Zajęcia w Polskiej Szkole działającej przy naszej Parafii odbywają się
w każdy poniedziałek w okresie roku szkolnego od godz. 5:30 do
8:00PM.

Zachęcamy nowych parafian do zapisania się do parafii. Potwierdzenie
przynależności do parafii poprzez zapisanie się do niej jest rzeczą
ważną, gdyż zaznacza naszą obecność we wspólnocie oraz wyraża

Uroczystość Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa
Swięto Bożego Ciała

Gdy Kościół sprawuje Ofiarę Eucharystyczną, wspomina
wielkie dzieło zbawienia, dzięki któremu żyje - śmierć Jezusa
na krzyżu i Jego zmartwychwstanie. Chrystus jest obecny nie
tylko we wspomnieniach i wierze tych, którzy gromadzą się,
aby sprawować Eucharystyczną Ofiarę Mszy Świętej. Sobór
Watykański II mówi o rzeczywistej i wielorakiej obecności
Chrystusa: w osobie odprawiającego kapłana, pod postaciami
eucharystycznymi w czytanym i przepowiadanym słowie Pisma
Świętego, i wreszcie w modlitwie i śpiewie zgromadzonej
społeczności. Ona sama jest Ciałem Chrystusa. Staje się nim
przez przyjmowanie Najświętszego Sakramentu Ciała i Krwi
Pańskiej: czerpie z niego życie Boże, trwa we wspólnocie z
Chrystusem i z tymi, którzy posilają się tym samym Chlebem
Eucharystycznym. To, co w tajemniczy sposób stało się z nami
we chrzcie świętym, w Eucharystii dochodzi do dojrzałości, a
nawet przejawia się na zewnątrz: nasze złączenie się z
Chrystusem i włączenie w Jego Ciało Mistyczne, czyli Kościół.

jako pierwsi męczennicy Czarnej Afryki.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Re-registration continues. Re-registration will allow us to
properly prepare for September classes. First-time
students should provide a baptismal certificate for
registration and all the necessary paperwork will be given to
you when you either register or re-register your child.
Registration can be completed at the Parish Office.
Payment is not necessary at this time if that is a problem
but registration is.
CHAPEL AND LITURGY OF THE WORD ON SUNDAYS
Chapel and Liturgy of the Word which our youngsters
participate in on Sunday mornings, will conclude on
Sunday, June 16 th , and take a summer break.
ROSARY SOCIETY NEWS
• Rosary Sunday is this Sunday, June 2 nd at the 9:30
Mass followed by assembling toiletries for Bridges
Outreach.
• Rosary Potluck on Tuesday, June 4 th at 5:30 PM.
• Rosary Society to pray the Rosary at 7 PM on

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus will hold their next regular
monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 11 th at 8 PM in the
Parish Center.
PAT COOK IS MOVING
Pat Cook, who has served the Parish in so many ways, and
is currently our Office Manager and has overseen
Sacramental Preparation, is moving from the area at the
end of June. On this Sunday, June 2 nd , after the 9:30 Mass,
if you would like to wish Pat well, we will have “coffee and”
in the cafeteria. Please feel free to join us.
Pat has participated in so many Ministries in our Parish and
has shared her talent in the Choir as well. She has never
been one to step back from giving of her time, talents, and
treasure for the good of the Parish Family. Her willingness
to extend a helping hand to all will be sorely missed. Our
prayer is that she will enjoy her time with family and
perhaps have some time to “kick-back” a little; something
she so richly deserves.
ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
The Appeal continues and at this time the administration of
the Appeal will begin to be in touch with previous donors
who have not taken the opportunity to participate this year
as a way of reminding them of the Appeal and all that is
does.
SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
Beginning on Monday, June 17 th we will have shortened
office hours. The Parish Office will be open on Monday
through Thursday from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. The Office will be
closed Friday through Sunday. The phones will be
answered automatically and you will be able to leave a
message for whomever you would like to reach, and we will
return calls. Emergencies will be promptly handled, as
always.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The Prayer Shawl Ministry will take a summer recess from
their meetings and resume in September. However, if you
would like to knit or crochet over the summer, please do not
hesitate to get in touch with the office and we will provide
you with the necessary information regarding what you
might work on for the summer.
COMING EVENT DATES DUE BY JUNE 15 th
Any group or individual that wants to schedule anything on
the Parish Calendar for the coming year must submit the
dates and event to the Office by June 15 th . The Parish
Calendar will be established at that time and you will be
notified of any conflicts or changes that might be necessary.
Obviously, first consideration is given to those who first
submit requests. There is no guarantee that any requests
will be honored after the planning process has been
accomplished.
WORSHIP
MISSION APPEAL ON JUNE 15 th and 16 th
On the weekend of June 15 th and 16 th we will welcome a
speaker from the co-op program of the Propagation of the
Faith. There will be a Sister of the Religious Teachers
Filippini speaking on behalf of their missions in the
countries of Albania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, India, and Brazil.
There will be a second collection on that weekend and your
gift will go to benefit countless needy women and children
at the missions.

You can read a bit of the Catholic Catechism each day
during the “Year of Faith” simply by signing up at

will receive a bit to read and at the end of the year you
will have read the entire Catechism. What an idea!!!
CONFESSION FOR THE “YEAR OF FAITH”
The Sacrament will be available on Sunday mornings
following the 8 AM Mass and following the 9:30 Mass as
well as on Saturday at 5 PM. The effort is being made to
make it easier to take advantage of the Sacrament of
Reconciliation.
ST. ANN NOVENA SCHEDULED
The St. Ann Society will once again lead the Novena to St.
Ann beginning on July 18 th following the 8 A.M. Mass and
concluding on the Feast of Sts. Joachim and Ann on Friday,
July 26 th . Following Mass we will share a little “coffee and”
to celebrate.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION IS BEST AT

The students in the 7 th grade history class are creating
“Facebook” pages for historical figures. Students were
assigned the task of choosing an historical figure that they
studied during the school year, coming up with a list of
contemporary friends or associates, and some personal
information about the figure to complete their “profile.” Next,
using a site called “Fakebook,” students developed
historically accurate profiles, “friends” lists, and posted
comments on the page for their chosen historical figures.
The complete pages look exactly like Facebook and were
shared with their classmates.
Mrs. Florendo came up with a new teaching technique for
her algebra class called “flipping the classroom.” Students
watch recorded lectures for homework and complete
assignments in class where their teacher is available. Using
her SMART Board, Mrs. Florendo created a video of her
lessons where the students see the SMART Board lesson,
hear her voice, and see her annotations on the screen. She
posted the videos on her classroom website and students
watched the video and took notes at home. If necessary,
they could rewind, pause, and re-watch the videos as often
as necessary. The new format was a big hit with the
students and it was discovered that many of the parents
watched as well!

STEWARDSHIP
“They all ate and were satisfied. And when the leftover
fragments were picked up, they filled twelve wicker
baskets.” The story of the Loaves and Fishes shows us
that when we share what we have –even if it doesn’t seem
like that much- miracles can happen! Do not think that your
gift is too small or insignificant! God blesses all the gifts we
offer and makes them wondrous.
GRADUATION BULLETIN COVER BEING PREPARED
Our annual tradition of preparing a “Graduation Bulletin
Cover” has begun. If you have a member of your family
who is graduating from elementary, middle, high school,
college, or earning a graduate degree, please feel free to
call the office and you will be asked for the necessary
information to include your family member. The cover will
appear at the end of June.
HELP FOR THOSE HIT BY OKLAHOMA TORNADO
In an effort to assist those devastated by the Tornado that
passed through Oklahoma, we will take a second
collection this weekend, June 1 st and 2 nd . The entire
collection will be forwarded to assist those directly
affected by the loss of everything they owned. The
collection of material goods does not seem to be the most
important need at the moment so we will offer whatever
financial aid we can.

GET-A-GRIP
Get-A-Grip will meet this Sunday, June 2nd at the 9:30
Mass.
All 6 th graders are welcome to be part of this
gathering as they prepare to join for next
September.
UNION CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
VIKING BASKETBALL CAMP
The Camp is for boys and girls, grades 1 – 8 and runs from
June 17 – 21 st from 9 A.M. – 3 P.M. The daily schedule
includes station drills focusing on passing, defense,
dribbling, ball handling, offensive moves, rebounding, 3 on
3; daily lectures on key aspects of the game; league games
and practice sessions each day. Participants grouped
according to age, size and ability; Lunch will be sold each
day; Free T-Shirts for all participants. Camp Fee is $200.

TOILETRIES FOR BRIDGES OUTREACH
The Rosary Society will meet after the 9:30 Mass on this
Sunday, June 2 nd to assemble toiletries, which have been
supplied, for Bridges Outreach. Additionally, donations of
trial size shampoo, lotion, body wash, tooth paste, shaving
cream and washcloths are also welcomed and accepted.

161 envelopes were used on Sunday and contained $4,200
which means 84% of the collection came from envelopes.
There are 575 registered families who receive envelopes,
which means 414 families did not use envelopes.
The average gift from envelopes was $25.77

Pennsylvania so they will be right next door to their son.
Being close to family is important and after reflecting they
made this difficult decision to leave this area and their
‘extended family.’ Theresa and Eustace wanted to offer

The traditional name for this weekend’s Feast is “Corpus
Christi,” “The Body of Christ.” Jesus is present to us
very intimately through his Real Presence in what only
appears to be bread and wine, as well as through his
body on earth, the Church, and the fellowship of all who
believe in him.
There are many ways of being present:
-we can send a note, letter, card, email, a live picture of
us via Skype or smart phone, or a gift, whether flowers
or jewelry.
-nothing, however, is the same as actually being there
with the other person, able to see, hear, and touch him
or her.
Jesus is present to us in many ways: within us
and others through what we traditionally call sanctifying
grace. He is present in the words of Sacred Scripture.
He is present in the collective members of those who
believe in him, which we call the Mystical Body of Christ.
Many other Christian denominations celebrate
the Lord’s Supper, sometimes every Sunday, sometimes
only once a month or only on major feast days such as
Christmas and Easter. Some use actual wine; some use
grape juice. Their understanding of the bread and wine
differs sharply with ours. They may see the bread and
wine simply as reminders of Jesus, or that Jesus is
somehow in the bread and wine which, however, remain
bread and wine.
Catholics believe that, when Jesus said, “This is
my Body” and “This is my Blood,” he meant that
literally. So, then, what looks and tastes like bread and
wine isn’t. It is the sacramental body and blood, soul
and divinity of Jesus. We call this the Real Presence.
However, that does not mean the other ways he is
present to us are not real.
I wonder, then, why the presence of Christ
doesn’t have a greater effect on us? The answer seems
to come down to three things: faith, awareness, and
openness. This is a matter of faith, not logic or magic.
We’re people not robots. The Real Presence of Jesus in
the Eucharist is automatic once the words of
consecration are pronounced. But the effect of his
presence on us is up to us.
We have to be aware of what we’re doing when
we receive the Eucharist. We’re not just following an old
custom. Even when we truly believe, it’s possible –
sometimes downright easy- to get way too casual about
the Eucharist.
We have to enter into an encounter with Jesus
with an openness to receive a message. Perhaps an
assurance of his love, perhaps an idea of how to be a
channel of that love to others, perhaps a challenge to
turn away from things that are wrong.
Perhaps we all need to be more aware and more
grateful!
