The undimming dharmakaya,<br />

the primal wisdom that neither grows brighter nor grows dimmer,<br />

illustrated by the sun,<br />

never changing, always shining and emitting rays of light.<br />

The thought-free dharmakaya,<br />

clear awareness devoid of thought,<br />

illustrated by the reflection of the moon in water.<br />

The moon’s reflection on water appears without obstruction and seems<br />

to shine very brightly, yet it is simply the appearance of something that<br />

does not exist. There is no such thing as a moon in the water. Likewise,<br />

when one recognizes that thoughts have no true existence, one recognizes<br />

awareness, and this is dharmakaya.<br />

Son, there are six primal wisdoms related to the mind.<br />

The fresh nature just as it is, unadulterated by thoughts, is free of<br />

the duality of subject and object; it is the wisdom of coalescence.<br />

With this first wisdom, dualistic notions are liberated as soon as one recognizes<br />

their nondual nature.<br />

The mind neither reaching out toward the object nor withdrawing,<br />

there is the wisdom of one taste with regard to the manifold<br />

perceptions and thoughts.<br />

Here, the mind neither reaches out to phenomena outside nor withdraws<br />

inside. It is the state of wisdom in which the outer perceptions of the<br />

six senses such as forms, sounds, smells, and tastes and the inner thoughts<br />

concerning the past, present, and future are all blended in one taste. All<br />

these things manifest in different ways. Ordinary beings alternate between<br />

positive and negative thoughts regarding them, but in truth they are never<br />

anything other than being one taste in the absolute nature. This wisdom,
