Martin Primary PCTA (Parent Carer Teacher Association)
What is the PCTA and what is its role?
The PCTA is a charitable organization run by and for the parents, carers and
teachers. Its role is to encourage closer links between the homes of the children
and the school. It does this in two ways;
The main role or aim of the PCTA is fund raising, these valuable funds (over
£15,000 last year) help supplement the education of the children, but, we also
have a useful social function too, by providing opportunities for parents, staff
and pupils to get together and hopefully have some fun!
How do I join?
All parents are automatically members of the PCTA, however, there are a
number of committee members that have been elected to run the PCTA.

If you would like to get more involved please come along to a coffee morning,
speak to the office staff, your class rep or any member of the committee. We are

Why get involved?
There are many great reasons to get involved in PCTA events:
To meet other parents
To positively and actively contribute to your child’s school
To have a voice as to which events might be organized and how this could
be achieved
To share your ideas
To feel more involved in your child’s school experience
To feel part of the whole school community
To help raise funds to be used for the benefit of the school and all its
pupils

What is a Class Rep?
The day to day running of the PCTA wouldn’t work without the help of class
representatives. These are roles which parents sign up for each September and
there are usually two or more ‘reps’ per year group. Class ‘reps’ are responsible
for communicating PCTA requests and information to the rest of the
parents/carers in their class/year group. They also organise class cake sales,
social events and thank yous for teaching staff.
