Was die an der Grenze sitzende Bevölkerung betrifft, so
gehören die drei Skoo- oder Seka-Dörfer sprachlich noch zu der
Familie, die in Deutsch-Neuguinea über Wutung, Yako, Waremo und
Wanimo bis nach Laitere geht. Sie spricht eine Papua-Sprache.

... Further along the coast to the west, within less than a mile
of the border of Netherlands New Guinea, is Wutong, also known as
Oinake. The three Seko villages in Hollandia are also of the
same language, and apparently, generally of the same custom.
Wutong and Seko people are linked by marriage.

... the Vanimo coastal area. It covers the coastal villages from
Leitere to the Netherlands New Guinea border, and the Sko
language in Netherlands territory belongs to the same / language
group. Vanimo and Wutung, the two varieties of speech found in
the area, can be regarded with Sko as dialects of a single
language. The three vary considerably in vocabulary, but
structurally they are one.

Zwischen Tami-Mündung und Robidé-Huk befindet sich das
Gebiet der Wutong. Sie scheinen in drei nahe
beieinanderliegenden Dörfern oder Teilen eines Dorfes zu leben.
Die einzelnen Namen dieser Dörfer, wie auh die Anzahl ihrer
Bewohner sind nicht bekannt. Die Wutong sprechen eine nicht
austronesische Sprache [Friederici 1910:332, 1912:258, 1913:36;
W. Schmidt 1926:152; Thomas 1941:163], die zur oben erwähnten
Gruppe gehört.
Über das östlich von Wutong liegende Dorf Mosu fehlt
jegliche Angabe, auch wird es in keiner der Quellen erwähnt.
Außer diesem nicht belegbaren Dorf ist die Küste östlich van
Wutong auf einer Länge von etwa 25 km unbesiedelt. Dann beginnt
das Siedlungsgebiet der Vanimo.

Tami river 13 , is now exclusively spoken by people living at Nyao

13 Cheesman (1938) refers to Njau and two other, un-named
villages. Skou people recognise the names Te Jáwung for modern
Nyao, in Papua New Guinea, and Te Húele, Te Nóemo, Te Kófo, and
Te Pòeng as villages inland on the Papuan side of the border. Of
course, not all of these names are necessarily contemporaneous:
since villages traditionaly move around every few years,
sometimes keeping the same name and sometimes changing, one
settlement may be referred to by more than one name, especially
when recalled over five decades of time.
