Father Pete’s Pen and Pad
We are coming to the last days of Advent, with Christmas only
hours away. I hope there is a lot of excitement about this feast
because there is power in these celebrations, not only in church,
but when we gather with our families, small or large as they
might be. Some of you will be travelling far and near to accomplish
this goal. May God bless you and embrace you that you
can prepare for the New Year, setting aside the hurts and disappoints
we have seen and opening us to a new founded hope for
2013.
Although I’ve only been here a few weeks as temporary administrator,
I’m aware that our first part of the parish mission is to
spread the Good News and to believe it! I’m glad that you are in
church today and hope you will always see this gathering as
important and deserving of your time to share with others. It is
also the place where we are able to do this and it requires commitment
of our time, talent and treasure. I encourage you to
come and worship and praise and thank God for all your blessings
every week. Then be generous in giving a just share of
those blessings for the service of others, including the parish.
Take this time of Christmas and a coming New Year to rededicate
your hearts and minds to the many good things that make a
good parish better, and this requires all of us. This is the time to
welcome the Son of God to be a permanent Guest in our hearts,
then do as St. John the Baptist suggests in today’s Gospel. Be
true to your heart and soul and the great calling that is yours and
mine: brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
Safe travel, celebrate at the Lord’s Table and at your family table.
Make visible this holy season of love and giving and humble
receiving.
Please continue to hold Father George Gajdos in your prayers as
his health improves following a brief hospital stay.

Scholarship Applications Available
The Lawrence G. and Aurelia M. Frank Scholarships for the
2013-2014 school year will be awarded to a Catholic High
School in the names of children of active parishioners of Christ
King. Applications can be picked up at the Parish or School offices.
Applications are due January 15, 2013. Those who were
awarded scholarships last year must re-apply to be considered for
this year’s awards.

Medical Clinic Needs
The Repairers of the Breach Medical Clinic has completed more
than 5,000 patient appointments since their grand opening in
October 2010. Large numbers of homeless members and uninsured
and underinsured residents of Greater Milwaukee have
benefitted from their free medical services and referrals. Many
vulnerable lives have been saved.
They keep their costs very low thanks to volunteer medical providers
and donated health care supplies. Their clinic supplies are
running low, so they are turning to their network of friends to
help restock their cabinets. Please consider donating a quantity
of one or more of the following items:
• Multi-Vitamins
• Ibuprofen (200mg)
• New/Used Glasses
• Over-the-Counter Reading Glasses
• Digital Thermometers and Covers
• Coricidin HBP (Cold Medicine)
• Cough Drops

Sacraments
Baptism: Please call the Rectory about the baptism preparatory
session, which must be completed before the baptism.
Arrangements should be made several months in advance. An
explanation of sponsor requirements is available at the Rectory.
Marriage: Please make arrangements with a parish priest at
least one year in advance because of preparation requirements.

Global Youth Mission
Global Youth Mission (GYM) is an international mission immersion
experience for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors
at one of three sites. Each trip takes place for two weeks during
the summer. The 2013 cycle of trips includes Punta Gorda in
Southern Belize July 13th through 27th; the Archdiocese of Castries,
St. Lucia Island July 13th through 27th; Managua, Nicaragua
July 7th through 21st. Why participate in Global Youth
Mission? Working side by side with people of other cultures you
will discover truths about yourself, your God and your world that
will impact you for a lifetime; forming a sense of community
with those you serve and your travel
companions will allow you to grow
emotionally and spiritually; experiencing
the life of people economically
poor yet culturally rich will
bring you awe, wonderment and a
sense of true international solidarity.
