Have you ever taken a stone and dropped it in
the still water of a pond? One drop is all it takes to
create a ripple.
After celebrating a decade of empowering women,
men, and youth to make life-affirming choices, we
began 2012 with an acute appreciation for each
individual God has called to stand for life in the
Dallas/Fort Worth area.
We began the year keenly aware that every life has
value and worth, for all life is created in God’s image
and He sustains each individual heartbeat. We began
a new year with a renewed commitment to continue
to create a culture of life in our community one
heart, one mind, and one life at a time.
ONE EVENT AT A TIME
Much like a drop in the water, one event in 2001
brought 300 women together to celebrate life at the
home of Lisa Troutt. To God be the glory for the
great things He has done through Council for Life in
2012. Throughout the year we saw His faithfulness
in five educational events and two Young Leaders for
Life events where God’s message of life was shared
with more than 2,500 individuals.
ONE BENEFICIARY AT A TIME
One fundraising event in 2001 provided funds for
one beneficiary, Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center.
In 2012, we were blessed with the privilege of funding
14 beneficiaries through our donors who joined us
for the Celebrating Life Luncheon. During the past
11 years, together with our donors, Council for Life
has given $3.97 million dollars to over 30 beneficiaries.
We are so grateful for God’s abundant provision and
our gracious donors who honor God with their generosity.
One woman gathered 10 other founders to form
Council for Life in 2001, and today we praise God
for each of our 826 members who make up our
coalition for life. And now we look forward to 2013
in anticipation of the ripple effect of doubling our
membership.
ONE AFFILIATE AT A TIME
The Council for Life began in 2001 as a single drop
and now is two with the introduction of the first
affiliate . . . Council for Life Fort Worth. In 2012,
after much prayer, we rejoiced as God brought
together the founders who will begin the ripple effect
of change of the culture for life in Fort Worth.
One group of incredibly talented women on the
Council for Life Board of Directors in 2012
answered God’s call to continue to be a part of His
work and stand for life in our culture. They answered
this call with grace and humility and gave above and
beyond what could have been imagined. What a
privilege and honor it has been to be a part of God’s
wonderful work.
We look forward with faith and anticipation, knowing
that God’s plan and purpose will be continued
through the capable leadership of Mona Wilson and
her board.
And the ripple effect continues . . .

We all have a story. My story is not one that I am proud of, but it made
me who I am today, and I like who I am today. On January 30, 2007, by
God’s grace and Council for Life’s embrace, I shared my story publicly for
the first time. I stood under a tent with 300 people staring at me wondering
what kind of testimony I could possibly have; after all, I was an active mom,
community volunteer, political leader, and successful business owner. What
was I going to tell them? I shared my Life journey and the choices I had
made when faced with unexpected pregnancies. Sadly, I did not choose Life.
For many years I carried the guilt and shame of my choices. I tucked them
deep into the crevices of my heart and held them tightly; no one could ever
know that I was capable of denying anyone Life that had been given by our
Creator. I came to realize that not only did I deny Life to these precious babies;
I had denied Life for myself.
My Life was forever changed under that big tent. A woman’s greatest fear is
rejection, especially when they already carry guilt and shame. The unconditional

love and support Council for Life gave me was overwhelming. I walked out
of that tent with a new Life, a Life of Hope and Life.
I now have the privilege of sharing my story of Redemption, Hope, and Life
to thousands of women across the country and world, and embrace those
who are willing to share their story for the first time, just as Council for Life
did for me.
I am forever grateful to Council for Life and its commitment to saving the
lives of unborn children and the mothers who face the toughest decisions
in their lives at a time of crisis. Council for Life understands that when you
save a child’s life, you also save a mother’s life, which in turn saves a family,
a community, and eventually a nation.
I long to stand before the Lord one day and hear him say, “Well done, good
and faithful servant for whom I am pleased, now hurry home. You have
three precious children waiting on you.”

During the past 11 years, Council for Life has issued one check
annually to each of its beneficiaries. These contributions are designated for
specific projects that have been requested via the Council for Life grant
request process. Often our beneficiaries have numerous “day to day” operational
needs that impact their already stretched budgets. Needed and necessary
items such as paint, office furniture, computers, phones, legal advice, marketing
consulting, and IT support are placed on the back burner due to lack of funds.
In a direct effort to help ease the strain on our beneficiaries’ budgets, Council
for Life launched its Resource Team this past August. This team is composed of
CFL men who have agreed to leverage their personal and business networks
to secure “in-kind” donations and professional services (pro bono or at a
discounted rate). These “in-kind” gifts are offered many times in addition to
financial support. The CFL men are greatly impacting the message of life
through their involvement by positively influencing these agencies’ budgets
and bringing to light the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Numerous requests have already been fulfilled! Some in-kind gift examples
are: 100 gallons of paint (50 donated, 50 discounted), a significant discount
on coffee mugs, donation of office furniture and legal services. Each one of
these was a huge “win” for the agency.
O N E L I F E A T A T I M E
One of the “wins” was priceless because a baby’s life was saved when one of
our local attorneys answered our 911 call.
“The White Rose Women’s Center was assisting a 17 year-old client who came to
the center on Central Expressway when she was 14 weeks pregnant and abortionminded.
She wanted to choose life but had many financial concerns and was in
need of legal support from a family law attorney. Thanks to the Council for
Life Resource Team, the client was connected with an attorney who was able to
successfully meet her needs. The client was also connected with a wonderful
pro-life obstetrician who has been providing her with prenatal care since
August. The White Rose Women’s Center has been able to help her during her
pregnancy with material and financial needs, and has connected her with
Project Gabriel for emotional and spiritual support.The client is doing very well
and is expecting a boy in early March!”

Avision was planted in Founder Emeritus Ann Carruth’s heart more
than ten years ago when she was given a verse from Isaiah 54 to guide a group
of 11 women who began the first Council for Life in Dallas, Texas. She was
reminded of this verse last year as a group of Council for Life members
formed an Affiliate Committee and began to research the feasibility of beginning
Council for Life Affiliates in other cities. The verses, Isaiah 54:2, 3, says this,
“Enlarge the place of your tent; stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back;
lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right
and to the left, your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in desolate
cities.” This verse is becoming a reality as Council for Life is expanding beyond
the borders of Dallas into other cities. After much prayer, thorough research,
and numerous consultations with our attorneys, the Committee decided in
June 2011 that Council for Life needed to launch an Affiliate Program. The
Board of Directors approved this decision in September 2011. A year later,
the dream of having a Council for Life Affiliate has come to fruition. Two
courageous women who didn’t even know each other stepped up to answer
the Lord’s call to begin a Council for Life in Fort Worth. Both had attended
Council for Life events in Dallas and had joined as members.
O N E C I T Y A T A T I M E
God placed a desire in both of their hearts to establish a Council for Life in
their own city. In just a few short months, they had gathered a group of
eight initial founders each blessed with unique gifts and talents to help move
them forward in this step of faith. It was a joyful day on July 17, 2012, as a
group of Dallas Council for Life members traveled to Fort Worth to meet
and pray with this initial group of founders. It is a privilege and honor to
link arms with them as they become our first Affiliate! The hope is that this
one Affiliate will multiply into many more across our country and world.
Currently, Council for Life Fort Worth is in the process of applying for its
nonprofit status. They hope to be up and running at the first of the year.
Their first membership tea is planned for Thursday, April 4, 2013. Please
pray for these women as they take these initial steps to stand for life in their
city. May their courageous stand for life become a ripple effect in Fort Worth
and beyond! May God continue to be glorified as we continue to create a
culture of life in our community, our cities, and our world, one heart, one
mind, and one life at a time.
