Shipwrecks
Orkney’s seabed is littered with shipwrecks of all shapes and sizes, from simple fishing boats to
the remaining warships from the scuttled German Fleet. Many were victims of bad weather, poor
navigation, the two world wars, accidents or just plain bad luck.
This is by no means a comprehensive list and only takes in those in the Scapa Flow area. Some
of the losses warrant more information than is covered in this brief table. Those which appear in
Bold are featured in more detail on the website.
