In compliance with the requirements of law I have the
honor to submit herewith my report of the transactions of
this office for the years 1939 and 1940. I am repeating
some suggestions and recommendations made in several
previous reports as I deem them of importance.
STEADY INCREASE IN WORK HANDLED
With the steady and substantial growth of the state in
population and with the steady increase in the activities of
the people generally this growth is naturally reflected in
the work in the office of Secretary of State. It has been
the slogan and purpose of this office for years to give
"Prompt, efficient and courteous service" and I feel that
this has been lived up to by the office personnel and the
achievement in this respect is a matter of great satisfac-
tion to the Secretary of State and all those connected with
this office- Total receipts for the year 1939 amounted to
$359,632.87 and the receipts for the year 1940 amounted
to $472,346.78 or an increase of $112,713.91, or more than
31%.
