The trip to Lynchburg was made
in automobiles and the game was
called at 3:30 P. M. .
The game was fast and hard
fought and at the end of the half,
V. E. S. was slightly ahead of V. M.
I. Time out was called in the last
22 seconds of play, and the score
stood V. E. S., 32; V. M. I., 31; however,
in those last few seconds the
team pulled through with the usual
BOYS' CLUB OF RICHMOND
On January 21 the Rat basketball
team added another feather to its cap
by defeating the strong Richmond
Boys' Club team, 43-23, in Jackson
Hall. With the exception of the V.
E .S. game, this was the hardest and
fastest game played by the Rats
this year. The second half was
their best half as they scored 24
points, 16 of which were scored during
the third quarter.
The Richmond boys fought valiantly
and played a good brand of
basketball. Coach Lambert used all
of his substitutes, and they showed
up very well.
Hawkins, Grow, and Scott starred
for V. M. I., while Taylor, Spear, and
Jones played well for Richmond.
S. M. A.
The V. M. I. Rats-S. M. A. game
was played in Jackson Hall at 3:30
P. M. Saturday. Both teams played
a hard game, but neither team seemed
to get its eyes on the baskket until
the second half. V. M. I. came
back during this period and scored
frequently. They missed a good
many shots, however, during both
halves of the game.
Coach Lambert was able to use all
of his substitutes.
Grow played a good game at forward
for the Rats, scoring twelve
points, while Hawkins played a good
defensive game. French and Wise
played well for S. M. A.
