Workshop Overview:
This interactive workshop will present key legal issues and
contractual principles pertaining to oil & gas contracts and
discuss how the history of oil & gas contracts has supplemented
the development of the oil & gas industry, in the world in
general and in the Gulf of Guinea in particular and has shown
increasing resource nationalism with States periodically seeking
to gain or regain control over their oil & gas resources. While
resource nationalism has demonstrated to be a never ending
cycle, the workshop will discuss why certain oil & gas contracts
are bound to fail at some stage of the relationship and present
ways to reduce and mitigate exposure to resource nationalism
and ultimately to prevent potential disputes from arising.
