Agricultural / Environmental / Science <strong>Graduate</strong>s<br />
Salary: £21,795 gross per annum<br />

services. We now have opportunities for a number of highly motivated recently qualified<br />
graduates, or those in their final year of study, to join our experienced teams of<br />

Successful candidates will join our 2 year <strong>Graduate</strong> Development Programme and will<br />
be involved in a wide range of business challenges which may be outside their core<br />
discipline. Through the programme and on-the-job training candidates will develop the<br />
skills to become a Consultant selling and delivering consultancy to clients.<br />

Key Skills and personal attributes required<br />
• A degree or equivalent preferably in a Science subject (especially but not exclusively<br />
Environmental Sciences, Applied Biology, UK Agriculture or Horticulture or food<br />
related)<br />
• Enthusiasm for working with people and for providing a high level of service to<br />
internal and external clients<br />
• Knowledge of environmental/agricultural issues and how these may impact on<br />
society, individuals and <strong>ADAS</strong> clients<br />
• Experience of working within a relevant industry would be desirable<br />
• Willingness to learn and apply new skills and to work flexibly to respond to evolving<br />
markets<br />

Plant Physiologist: Fruit Agronomy/Production Systems (1 post)<br />
To support a wide-ranging programme of work investigating the production and utilisation<br />
of fruit and other horticultural crops. Typically our research and project-based<br />
consultancy uses knowledge of crop growth and management to improve crop yield and<br />
quality whilst also reducing the impact of crop production on the environment. Our<br />
clients include producers, levy boards, Defra and its agencies, the agricultural supply<br />
industry and other corporate businesses within the food supply chain.<br />
Applicants need to demonstrate knowledge of plant physiology and/or agronomy, UK<br />
agriculture/horticulture, an ability to interpret data and to communicate information<br />
effectively to a range of stakeholders and clients. Knowledge of practical issues facing<br />
UK food and farming industries is desirable.<br />
Location: Boxworth, Cambridgeshire<br />
Sustainable Food and Farming Consultant (1 post)<br />
To work within a team concentrating on Agri-food industries concerning issues which cut<br />
across the whole farming system. Areas of work will include strategic/policy consultancy<br />
and research for our clients who include Defra and its agencies, Welsh Government, EC,<br />
the agricultural supply industry, levy boards and food supply chain. Typical subjects<br />
involve understanding the impact and implications of potential changes driven by<br />
legislation and policy, economics and markets, environmental issues and technological<br />
developments. Subjects might include pesticide/pharmaceutical use, new crops/species<br />
- including GMOs, water and carbon/environment footprinting and impact assessment<br />
and industry intelligence reporting. Work will require using information from a wide range<br />
of sources and will include project management and liaison with specialists within <strong>ADAS</strong><br />
and outside.<br />
Applicants need to demonstrate knowledge of UK agriculture/horticulture or food supply<br />
chains, an ability to interpret data and to communicate information effectively to a range<br />
of stakeholders and clients. Knowledge of practical issues facing UK food and farming<br />
industries is desirable.<br />

General Consultancy (2 posts)<br />
The posts will involve a broad range of work opportunities delivering consultancy to a<br />
wide range of clients. Although managed from within our Sustainable Food and Farming<br />
team they will have wider opportunities and project assignments across the <strong>ADAS</strong><br />
business. Subject matter will range across environmental, agricultural and wider<br />
sustainability issues.<br />
Our clients include a wide range of corporate clients, Government (especially Defra and<br />
its agencies, Welsh Government and EC), the agricultural supply industry, levy boards<br />
and food supply chain. You will also be expected to work with a wide range of other<br />
corporate clients. The posts are particular suitable for those wanting a broader based<br />
consultancy and managerial career.<br />
Typical subjects involve understanding the impact and implications of potential changes<br />
driven by legislation and policy, economics and markets, environmental issues and<br />
technological developments. Work will also include managing risk, complying with<br />
regulation and driving cost savings to maximise profit. However, there will also be an<br />
opportunity to support researchers on large cutting edge science and policy research.<br />
