“Nancy” by Ed Headley
‘Northern Neck Views’
to hang through May 17
LANCASTER—The Mary Ball
Washington Museum & Library at
8346 Mary Ball Road in Lancaster
will feature “Northern Neck
Views: Acrylic Paintings by Ed
Headley” through May 17.
Headley, a resident of Lottsburg,
mainly depicts water scenes, boats
including traditional fishboats and
workboats, and country landscapes
in his artwork. He paints in acrylics
and uses a technique that produces
a look similar to watercolors
or pastels.
Headley’s interest in painting
goes back to an art class he took
in 1985 at Rappahannock Community
College where his teacher,
Sidney King, told him that he had
some talent. However, he did not
continue with art at that time and
did not paint again for more than
20 years. Headley says that he
returned to art in 2006 when he
“purchased a set of paint brushes
at a yard sale, and the rest is history.”
“Ed’s paintings reflect real views
of the Northern Neck that capture
the heritage of the area from agriculture
to fishing,” said executive
director Karen Hart. “The exhibit
12
will contain a mix of originals and
framed prints and visitors will be
able to purchase these as well as
unframed prints and notecards in
various sizes.”
Visitors can enjoy free admission
to the exhibit and meet the
artist on April 13 during the
Lancaster Court Day Festival from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
