Today your names will be added to the long list <strong>of</strong> men and women<br />
who have eamed depes in liberal arts, businese or law at the <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong><strong>Baltimore</strong>. The earliest entries in this log date &om 1928, when<br />
the university graduated 38 students who had completed the threeyear<br />
evening law program. (Later conso6dation with the <strong>Baltimore</strong> College<br />
<strong>of</strong> Commerce extended this list back to the 1880s.) Now, sixty<br />
years after graduating its 6nt clau, the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Baltimore</strong> haa<br />
more than 29,000 alumni.<br />
But the significance <strong>of</strong> this occaaion is not that you are one <strong>of</strong> many,<br />
but that you yourself have achieved a worthy goal. These commencement<br />
ceremonies are a public recopition <strong>of</strong> that accompliahment, and<br />
demonstrate the university's pride in your achievement. On behalf <strong>of</strong><br />
the faculty, adminiatration and alumni, congratulations.<br />
