District seeks students with
special education needs
Federal law requires that school districts provide
special education services to eligible children with
disabilities from kindergarten through age 21. Families
with special needs children are encouraged to contact
their local school to learn more about the special
education services that may be available to them.
According to the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Act (IDEA), disabilities that may require special
education support include learning disabilities,
physical orthopedic disabilities, other health
impairments, mental retardation, hearing or vision
impairments, speech or language disorders, emotional
disturbance, traumatic brain injury or autism.
A list of contacts and resources available through the
Corvallis School District is available on the Special
Education Services Web page.
The IDEA legislation also provides services to special
needs children from birth to age 3 through local
education service districts. For information about early
intervention programs, call 753-1202, ext. 111.
