Conclusion:<br />

The applied EPM procedures <strong>during</strong> SDR provide an objective way for selecting transected<br />

rootlets and avoiding postoperative complications especially those <strong>of</strong> sphincteric dysfunction.<br />

We recommend routine use <strong>of</strong> EPM <strong>during</strong> SDR especially for those children with<br />

preoperative sphincteric control. Further research on larger numbers <strong>of</strong> cases and for longer<br />

followup periods is required to determine its impact on clinical outcome.<br />
