Ram and Lankasur Ravan are poised for a bitter battle, the deities stand watching from
the firmamament. Sri Ram, though an incarnation, as a human a little worried. Sage
Agatya makes his appearance there to boost up the monarch’s morale. He teaches Sri
Ram Aditya Hridayam, a paean to the glory of the Sun God, whose grace assures victory
to the devotee.
Sri Ram, as a man, listens to the Sage with devout attention and is blessed. In the battle,
He destroys Evil and refurbishes dharma. Reciting Soorya Chaaleesa brings to all good
health, prosperity and victory over the enemies.

Shree Ganapati pada kamala mahan, prema sahit dhari dhyaan,
Sooraja chaaleesaa kahaun, dravau dayaa kari naatha.

Jaya dinkara, jaya divaakara, jaya deenadayaala dinesha
Jaya jaga paalaka prabhaakara, keejai harana klesha
O maker of Day, O sun Deity, the compassionate to the humble, Dinesh! O Lord of
radiance! You are the protector and the nurturer of the world. Please have mercy on me
and relieve me from agonies.
Chaupaee
Jayatee soorya naaraayana svaamee, karahu kripaa prabhu antartyamee
Angana kaanti dhara gagana bihaaree, anupam jyoti kalaa chhabi nyaaree
O Lord Sooryanarayan! Glory be to Thee. O Almighty! Have mercy on me. O Lord
Soorya, splendorous, You move around in the skies. Your image is resplendent with
twelve radiant aspects.
Yuga sahasra yojana tanu raajaei, maathe kanaka mukuta-mani saajaei
Kundala kalita kapolana sohaei, so lakhi teja teja pati mohaei
You reside thousands of Yojanas (a measure of distance equal to 4.8 or 16 miles) away
from the earth. On Your head is a golden crown that is inlaid with precious gemstones.
The earrings that You wear add to the luster of Your cheeks. Their magnificence
fascinates even Mahavishnu.

Shveta varna shat-dasha haya naadhe, aruna saarathee raju kara-saadhe
Nau Lakha yojana rathachaudaaee, so chhatteesa laksha lambaaee.
The Lord’s chariot is drawn by sixteen white horses and the reins are held by Arjun, the
charioteer. The width of the chariot is nine lakh Yojanas and its length id thirty six lakh
Yojanas.
Ratna jadita ratha para prabhu raajita, lakhi gati sahasa chanchalaa laajita.
Nau karoda ikyaavana laakhaa, parikramaa ravi kee shruti bhaakhaa.
Aganita daeitya nitya sanhaarahina, jaga bhaktana kara kashta nivaarahin.
Udaya hota nishi kahan tama bhaajaei, tava satayuga kara dankaa baajaei.
Dhani ho dhanya bhaanu bhagavaanaa, tava mahimaa pratyaksha bakhaana.
Tejaraashi atulita baladhaaree, tava mahimaa varanata tripuraaree.
Sunahu umaa shubha parita dineshaa, sakala harana japa kashta kleshaa.
Kushta varana jinake tana hoee, ravi para dhyaana dharaei nita joee.
Vrata binu lona karaei ravivaaraa, bhramacharya yuta dhaari vichaaraa.
Dvija, sana ravikaara sunaei puraanaa, poojan karaei raakhi ura dhyaanaa.
