Maureen is deeply appreciative of the customer support Unique Expressions
has received. In return the shop is a team sponsor and for the past seven years
has been a strong supporter in the fight against breast cancer. A portion of the
stock sales from a special display go directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.
During the Victoria Day holiday week-end, 10% of sales were donated to
the annual Dragon Boat Races, Maureen and Amber are competitive rowers.
Maureen takes great pride in the quality, diversity and choice of unique gift suggestions
but more so; the warm and friendly service each and every customer
receives.
Maureen Crawford is the successful
owner/operator of Unique Expressions
ably assisted by her daughter Amber and friend Donna Roche. Complimenting
each other, Unique Expressions is nestled along side Fresh Country
Fruits and Veggies and Country Time Coffee at Fowlers Corners but as so many
regular customers and tourists have attested, well worth the drive. To name a
few would be an injustice to the various displays of gift ideas, but we would also
be remiss not to mention Betty Singer Angels, Wall Talk, John Deere, Royal Dalton
Bunnykins and Tinkerbell. Betty Singer will be at Unique Expressions on
July 18th , mark the date on your calendar. Red Hat Ladies come from miles
around to browse through the colourful displays of hats, scarves and accessories.
Decorative garden ornaments far beyond one’s imagination, jewelry,
candles, picture frames and the list is endless. One stop shopping from cards to
gift to wrapping. Treat yourself to a visit and see for yourself why Unique Expressions
is number one on so many satisfied customers’ shopping list.
The dictionary defines unique as rare and notable, but the words do not even
come close in describing Unique
Expressions. Entering their eighth
year in business, the multi Peoples
Choice Award winner began as a
small store front display but within
six months grew to two large rooms
impeccably decorated, displaying
hundreds of rare and unique treasures
sure to please a loved one,
friend or yourself. Truly, something
for everyone.
No two dogs are alike, each has individual coats and textures and even breed
Shirley still attends two seminars every year to stay abreast of all modern technology,
Shirley has gained a reputation as an expert dog groomer accepting all breeds
of dogs but is known primarily for specializing in large dogs. The Paw Spa offers
Prolong the life of your car, truck or van, call 745-6897 for further information
and directions, arrange for an all important appointment today.
Kenway Rustproofing is open all year conveniently located on the Fifth Line between
Peterborough and Lakefield. Ken’s advice to bring your vehicle in now in
order to prevent the ravages of winter from taking hold makes a lot of sense.
The warmer weather allows the rust preventative oils to creep through all metals
more freely providing utmost protection.
Appointments are necessary call 745-6897; the inexpensive rust proofing
process usually takes about one hour. Cars, trucks or vans can be dropped off
or customers can relax in a comfortable sun room setting until the undercoating
is completed.
Ken uses only the finest undercoating manufactured by Rust Authority, a Canadian
company based in Kitchener. The product is environmentally friendly, odorless,
drip less and through extensive testing and customer testimonials, has
proven to be an excellent and long lasting adhesive rust preventative.
Ken Fowler is a life long resident of
our community. Ken learned the skill
of rust proofing assisting a relative in Bowmanville and in 1998 opened his own
business.
You can’t hear it but it is happening. More and more car, truck and van owners
are realizing the vital need to undercoat their vehicles thereby preventing rapid
erosion caused by rust. Logic dictates
Fall is the time to make an appointment
to have the rust proofing
completed, but many fail to recognize
all the corrosive materials including
salt amassed through the
Winter is at this very moment methodically
eating away at the metal.
Leona modestly admits to supplying the Peterborough Zoo with monkey food,
parrot mix and pot bellied pig food to name just a few. One would be hard
pressed to request something Equi-Pet Supplies does not display but if so, Leona
will gladly fill special orders.
Preferring to be known simply as Leona, the eleven year owner/operator of
Equi-Pet Supplies explains she can carry so many unique but essential items for
pets because she is an independent and not under the restrictions of a chain.
The displays are endless, tack and wormers for horses, traveling cages for cats
and dogs, medications, snacks, grooming tools and even fish food. There are
gift cards for pets, keepsake animal mugs and harnesses for sled dogs. Just when
we think we have seen it all, Leona escorts us to the back rooms that are piled
high with horse feed, cat and dog foods of every description, bird feeders and
a large variety of seed. Leona weighs and bags most of her horse and pet foods
Judy Keith is an Audiologist, the mother of three children and a long time resident
in our area. Judy has an Honours Degree in Communicative Disorders
from the University of Western Ontario, a Graduate Degree in Audiology, and
is a provincial Consultant in the Infant Hearing Program. Judy appreciates the
importance of hearing in all activities of living. If you have a hearing loss or a
hearing aid that is not producing everything you expected, let Judy Keith’s
knowledge, expertise and caring assist you in appreciating life the way it is meant
to be.
If you have a hearing loss, Judy Keith is interested in your success with a hearing
aid. She emphasizes that the professional relationship with your hearing aid
provider is vitally important in determining long-term success and benefit.
“At Chemong Audiology, we have an open-door policy. If there is a problem or
issue between scheduled visits, we encourage you to let us know so we can
solve it”. The hearing solutions offered today are proven forms of treatment for
loss of hearing.
The first step involved is to arrange for a professional hearing assessment. If a
hearing aid is required, one is fitted to comfort, worn discretely and designed
for your ability to wear it all day. What you should notice is better hearing,
more confidence and comfort in conversation, and much less stress! Other than
being able to hear once again, you are not likely to even notice that the hearing
aid is there. Technology has come so far in such a short time. Perhaps you have
said, “I have tried a hearing aid but it didn’t work. It was uncomfortable.” Or,
“I had a problem with my aid but I didn’t call. I’m sure it’s something I’m doing
wrong and I don’t want to bother them.”
How readily we seem willing to accept our poor quality of hearing. So often we
hear both young and old, men and women state, “I can’t
hear out of my left ear,” or, “my right ear is practically
deaf” as if it is a courageous merit badge of life. Poor
hearing affects how we feel about ourselves, poor hearing
has a direct bearing on social life, how one participates
in conversations among groups and family, even on
memory as a result of not hearing clearly and understanding
what’s been said. The saddest part of suffering the
consequences of hearing loss is that, in most cases, it is
totally not necessary. So often it comes down to making
the decision to do something about it!
In these tough economic times, we all seek the best value for our dollar, Blue
Diamond Window Cleaning offer exceptionally low rates, free estimates and
service in Victoria, Durham and Peterborough Counties including Pickering,
Bobcaygeon, Port Hope and Bancroft. When it is time to have your windows or
siding cleaned, it is time to call Blue Diamond Window Cleaning.
Gerry Herron is a life long resident of our community, he and his lovely wife
Nicole reside in the Bridgenorth area. Gerry purchased Blue Diamond Window
Cleaning in 2006. Although expectedly slower in the winter months, beginning
in the spring Gerry’s six employees and 3 trucks are on the go morning until
evening serving cottages, resorts, commercial businesses, construction window
clean up and residential homes.
Blue Diamond Window Cleaning has been in business for twenty two years and
have learned the secrets of their profession. The majority of dirt and grime accumulation
is hidden in the frames around each and every window, so each
frame around every window in your home, cottage or business is thoroughly
cleaned as well as the pane itself. Let it rain, your windows will remain streak
free.
To state no one likes to do windows and siding is not totally true. Blue Diamond
Window Cleaning love to do windows in fact, their well trained experts guarantee
streak free windows.
Many situation comedies feature a maid or handyman
and somewhere along the story line one of them will
invariably say, “I don’t do windows.” We chuckle but in
reality no one truly likes to clean windows or siding. It
can be a tedious job and dangerous too having to climb up and down ladders,
stretch for hard to reach areas and usually the second floor windows simply get
forgotten because they are just too hard or too high to clean. The most frustrating
part though is after the first rain and you notice all the dirt has mysteriously
returned nullifying all your time and effort.
of Hearing Centre today.
Multi winner of the Readers Choice Award, Best of Hearing Centre is built primarily
on referrals. “We take pride in our ability to adjust hearing aids. We take
the necessary time required to help each individual with their particular circumstances.”
departments along with Sharon’s parents Maddie and Ray Wingett who
are kept busy running errands and taking care of maintenance. Truly a family
business.
Sharon Canzi, owner/operator of Best of Hearing Centre and her brother Lee
Wingett an integral part of the team, both have hearing loss and wear hearing
aids. Their clients know that Sharon and Lee understand and are always pleased
to share their personal experiences and professional expertise. Sharon has
dedicated herself to this field for over twenty years and is still enthusiastic and
helps her and Lee. Many clients have trusted Sharon since the beginning of her
career and she is grateful for the confidence they have in her ability to test, fit
and supply their hearing needs.
Please do not just read that statement and move on, take a
moment to think about it. Hearing loss is very gradual, often
times we are not aware of a hearing loss because we do
not always hear what we are missing. If you have a hearing
problem at any level, then you already realize hearing is
communication and communication is fundamental in all
facets of our life. If you have a hearing problem then you
also realize how important that loss is because we have to
listen every second of every day. So, when would you like
to start hearing better?
