<strong>Camp</strong> at <strong>the</strong> Suffolk County Farm!<br />

Get ready <strong>to</strong> embark on an epic adventure this summer at <strong>the</strong> Suffolk County Farm and Education Center. Have you ever wanted <strong>to</strong><br />

pet a piglet, learn how <strong>to</strong> make old-fashioned ice cream or explore a Butterfly House? One of <strong>the</strong> most unique experiences on Long<br />

Island, campers’ grades K-6 will take part in hands on activities in animal science, agriculture, and environmental science lead by<br />

experienced and trained educa<strong>to</strong>rs. Imagine a day complete <strong>with</strong> nature crafts, wagon rides, tasting fresh produce, sprinklers, llama<br />

hikes, and bug collecting. Hours will be filled <strong>with</strong> new experiences that you cannot find anywhere else but a century old working<br />

farm. <strong>Camp</strong>ers do not have <strong>to</strong> worry about doing <strong>the</strong> same things twice, educa<strong>to</strong>rs will always be changing <strong>the</strong>ir activities and<br />

building on <strong>the</strong>ir education throughout <strong>the</strong> summer. Don’t miss this chance <strong>to</strong> be a real farmer, veterinarian and a naturalist all at <strong>the</strong><br />

same camp!<br />

Register by grade entering as an Explorer* (Kindergarten), Pioneer (Grade 1 & 2), Trailblazer (Grade 3 & 4), or a Naviga<strong>to</strong>r<br />

(Grades 5 & 6). *NEW Half-day option for Kindergarten campers from 8:30-12:00.<br />

*NEW S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) <strong>Camp</strong> - Grades 7-9<br />

Do you love animals and nature? This camp offers middle school youth an opportunity <strong>to</strong> explore animal and environmental science<br />

in a relaxed and fun environment. Participants will gain a better understanding of science and its relevance <strong>to</strong> everyday life through<br />

meaningful hands-on activities and adventures utilizing <strong>the</strong> entire farm. From <strong>the</strong> greenhouse <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> cow barn and from <strong>the</strong> beehive<br />

<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> sheep pasture, <strong>the</strong>re is something for everyone!<br />

Dog Days - Week 4 Grades 5-8 July 29- August 2<br />

Share your camp experience <strong>with</strong> your dog! You will have <strong>the</strong> chance <strong>to</strong> bring your dog <strong>with</strong> you for 2 of <strong>the</strong> scheduled days for fun<br />

and socialization. <strong>Camp</strong> activities may include demonstrations by local obedience and agility trainers, hiking and scavenger hunts<br />

<strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> dogs, first-aid training, and making homemade dog treats. Dogs must be well behaved <strong>with</strong> no aggression issues, must<br />

know basic obedience commands and be comfortable on a leash and in a crate, must be at least 6 months old, and have proof of<br />

rabies vaccination. Dogs in season will not be permitted. Participants are responsible for bringing water and food dish, food, treats,<br />

collar, 6 foot non-retractable leash, and crate and are responsible for cleaning up after dogs at all times. Only one dog per camper,<br />

but a dog is not needed <strong>to</strong> attend.<br />

Specialty <strong>Camp</strong> for High School Students - Grades 10-12 July 1, 2, 3 & 5<br />

Farm Animal Care 101 for first time participants<br />

Farm Animal Care 201 for repeat participants<br />

This technical camp offers teens a one-of-a-kind opportunity <strong>to</strong> explore <strong>the</strong>ir interest in working <strong>with</strong> animals. Our skilled educa<strong>to</strong>rs<br />

take a hands-on approach, guaranteeing participants a unique learning experience which includes daily feeding and maintenance of<br />

animals, grooming and handling, training young animals, milking dairy animals, studying embryology, and more. Participants will have<br />

a chance <strong>to</strong> work <strong>with</strong> all of our lives<strong>to</strong>ck-ponies, llamas, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, and rabbits- and are certain <strong>to</strong> have a<br />

memorable and unique week in a safe and fun environment.<br />

Registration In<strong>form</strong>ation<br />

• All camps run from 8:30 am <strong>to</strong> 3:30 pm. Before & After<br />

Care options from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. See chart on next<br />

page.<br />

• Register now by mail or online at www.ccesuffolk.org.<br />

Telephone <strong>registration</strong> begins April 26th <strong>with</strong> VISA or<br />

MasterCard. Call 852-4600 Mon – Fri, 9am - 3pm only.<br />

• Full payment is due at time of <strong>registration</strong>.<br />

• Confirmation of your <strong>registration</strong> will be mailed <strong>to</strong> you along<br />

<strong>with</strong> a Medical and Acknowledgement of Risk <strong>form</strong> which<br />

MUST be completed and returned at least two weeks before<br />

camp starts or <strong>registration</strong> will be cancelled.<br />

• Your <strong>registration</strong> signifies acceptance of, and agreement <strong>to</strong>,<br />

all Registration In<strong>form</strong>ation policies and procedures.<br />

• You may cancel your <strong>registration</strong> in writing up <strong>to</strong> two weeks<br />

prior <strong>to</strong> your program start date. You will be refunded 70%<br />

of <strong>the</strong> pre-paid program fee. No refund will be made if<br />

cancellation is received less than two weeks prior <strong>to</strong> start<br />

date (determined by envelope postmark date). Cornell<br />

Cooperative Extension reserves <strong>the</strong> right <strong>to</strong> cancel any camp<br />

program for any reason, in which case a full refund of <strong>the</strong><br />

pre-paid program fee will be issued.<br />

• Children dismissed or absent from camp will not be entitled<br />

<strong>to</strong> a refund, credit, or exchange of dates.<br />

• Any change in camp sessions/dates will incur a $20.00<br />

administrative fee. No changes permitted after June 30th.<br />

• Transportation <strong>to</strong> and from camp is not provided. Parents/<br />

guardians are required <strong>to</strong> accompany <strong>the</strong>ir child from <strong>the</strong><br />

parking field <strong>to</strong> camp <strong>to</strong> check-in and check-out each day.<br />

• All campers are responsible for bringing <strong>the</strong>ir own lunch,<br />

snack, and beverage. Refrigeration is provided.<br />

• All 4-H operated camp programs are licensed and inspected<br />

yearly by <strong>the</strong> Suffolk County Department of Health.
