WELCOME TO OUR PARISH: You are invited to register and become an active member of our
parish family. Complete a Registration Form (found in the vestibule) and return it to the church
office. You may register if you live outside parish boundaries. Please notify the church office of
changes of address and telephone number.
SICK AND SHUT-INS: Please contact the church office so that arrangements can be made for
them to receive the Sacraments.
BAPTISM: Baptisms are on the first and third Sundays of each month at 2:00 p.m. If not
previously done, parents and godparents are required to attend a Preparation Class, offered on the
SECOND SATURDAY of each month, 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Room. Call the church office to
make reservations for Baptisms and the Class. Most couples find it more convenient to attend the
class before the birth of the child.
WEDDINGS: Either the bride or groom must be a registered parishioner. Both must be free to
marry in the Catholic Church. Wedding dates are set at the first meeting with the priest or deacon,
at least six months before the wedding.
NURSERY CARE: Nursery care provided for children, three months to two years old, in Preschool
building during the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. To register, call Pauline Mayfield 214-827-5859 or

COUNSELING: Professional and confidential counseling is offered by Souad Shrime, M.S., L.P.C.,

Visits to the Sick
Please let us know when a member is ill or elderly, or in the hospital or
facing surgery. If possible please do not wait until it becomes an
emergency, when a visit and prayer and perhaps the administration of the
Sacrament of the Sick may be appropriate and helpful, so that we can do
our best to attend to the people in need.
In Memoriam

Massoud (brother of Carmen Massoud), Patricia Sepulveda (mother of
Maureen Sepulveda), and Chet Gaska.
Lent in Our Parish
During Lent Mass will be celebrated on Wednesdays (in addition to
the regular schedule) at 6:15 p.m., beginning March 8; followed by
Confessions until 8:00 p.m. These Confessions are in addition to the
regular schedule of Confessions (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday).
NOTE: There will be no other Confessions scheduled for Easter.
Stations of the Cross will take place on Fridays at 2:30 p.m. (when
school is in session—no 2:30 p.m. Stations on March 17) and
at 7:00 p.m.
Weekly Holy Hour Everyone is encouraged to spend a Holy Hour in
prayer in the church once a week for the six weeks of Lent. Please sign
the book in the vestibule when you come for your Holy Hour.
Abstinence from eating meat is to be observed on Good Friday and
all Fridays of Lent by Catholics 14 years of age and older.
Fasting Good Friday is a Fast day—only one full meal is allowed, two
smaller meals are permitted, nothing between meals except liquids, for
all Catholics age 18 until their 60th birthday.
Rice Bowls During Lent, remember those who are less fortunate by
participating in Operation Rice Bowl. Your donations will help to
support the work of Catholic Relief Services around the world. We
have a new supply of Rice Bowls available in the vestibule.

Second Collection This Weekend
There will be a special second collection taken up at all Masses this
weekend for the STA Aquinas Emergency Tuition/STA School fund.

Annual Fund 2005-2006
Our community has made a commitment to educate each child in the
parish who wishes to attend STA School. Tuition rates for the school
are kept as low as possible in order to give parish families the
opportunity to provide a quality Catholic education for their children.
Fundraising makes up the difference between the actual cost of
educating a child at STA and tuition cost, an
annual variance which is $1,275 for the first
child and $3,250 for two children. The STA
Annual Fund allows contributors to select
from four fund designations: Unrestricted,
Faculty Development and Compensation,
8 th Grade Class Gift, and the Monsignor
John T. Gulczynski Endowment Fund. Your
Annual Fund dollars have enabled us to
accommodate the growing needs of the
parish, enrich our curriculum, expand our
faculty’s talents and improve facilities and
school programs. Your gifts directly benefit
the children of this parish each day. Please
support our school through your tax-deductible gift to the Annual

CRHP Retreat is This Weekend—
Please Respect The Privacy of The Participants
The Mens’ Christ Renews His Parish Weekend is this weekend,
March 11/12. To ensure privacy to the participants of the Retreat please do
not walk through the St. Anne Hall when coming to Mass. The Gym, and
all the meeting rooms off the Hall will be closed. Thank you for

We have received complaints from neighbors whose driveways have been
blocked on Sunday, by people coming to Mass, or other activities here at
STA. Please be vigilant in your courtesy of our neighbors and avoid
getting a ticket or having your car towed.

“I Walked Where He Walked!”
A presentation of Deacon Ken’s Trip to the Holy Land
As many of you know, thanks to our STA Knights of
Columbus, I recently had the awesome experience of going on a
pilgrimage to the Holy Land. It was indeed a profound experience, and
as part of our Adult Education Program, I would very much like to
share that experience with you. I will attempt to convey some of the
incredible and ministry-changing events of our journey. The presentation
continues at 7:30 each Wednesday evening (March 15, 22 & 29) in
the Drama Room in the School. Fr. John will be celebrating Mass at
6:15 p.m. each Wednesday of Lent, so you might want to begin the
evening by joining us for Mass.
In Power Point format, I’ll show many of the pictures that
I took including Elijah’s cave, the Basilica of the Annunciation in
Nazareth, the birthplace of John the Baptist, the birthplace of Jesus in
Bethlehem, various sights along the Sea of Galilee, the Garden of
Gethsemane, Golgotha, the empty tomb and the Church of the Holy
Sepulcher, and many, many others.
In keeping with the Lenten season, however, the
presentations will not be just pictures and narrative. As we walk our
Lenten journey, we will pray the Scriptures associated with the
corresponding events of Jesus’ life. My prayer is that you will have a
touching spiritual Lenten experience of the reality of the life and death
and resurrection of Jesus.

St. Jude Library Closed for CRHP Retreats
The St. Jude Library will be closed for the CRHP retreats of March 11-12
and March 18-19. If you have any items to return, please use the book drop
located in St. Anne Hall on days other than the retreat days.
Lector Training Class
Deacon Ken will have one more meeting, Tuesday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m.
in the church, for training of new Lectors and re-commissioning of veteran
ones. Parishioners who would like to serve in this capacity must be
practicing Catholics, registered in the parish for at least six months, and be
screened according to the Safe Environment Program of our Parish.
Both veteran and new participants need to attend one class if they are a
Lector, or would like to become a Lector.
Parish Social Next Sunday, March 19
The Holy Name Society invites everyone to the Parish Social, for coffee,
doughnuts and juice in the School Cafeteria after 9 am Mass, next Sunday.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society thanks all of you for
your donations to the poor box during the month of
February. Your generous donations totaled $1175.50. The
poor box is located in the back of the church.
St. Thomas Aquinas - Preschool Round-up
Please join us for a Preschool Round-up on Sunday, March 26, 10 a.m.noon
at the STA Preschool. St. Thomas Aquinas Preschool offers PK3 and
PK4 classes in a variety of weekday combinations, as well as Stay and
Play options for children who are 3, 4 or 5 by September 1. Our talented
and experienced preschool faculty will be on hand to lead tours of the
classrooms and answer any questions you may have. Refreshments,
balloons and more will be available! Also, bring your little ones by to see
our surprise guest visitor! The Preschool is located south of the

Children’s Garden Memorial Bricks
Loved ones wishing to remember a child who has passed away can do so
by ordering a memorial brick to be placed in the STA Children's Garden.
Cost for the brick is $75. Order forms may be picked up from the school
office, church rectory and vestibule. For questions, please call Connie

How Did the Knights of Columbus Get Started?
In 1881, life for most Catholics in the United States was full of hardship
and struggle. It was in that year that a small group of men met in the basement
of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Called together by
their 29-year-old parish priest, Fr. Michael J. McGivney, these men formed
a fraternal society that today numbers over 1.6 million members and is the
world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. These men
were bound together by the ideal of Christopher Columbus, the discoverer
of the Americas, the one whose hand brought Christianity to the New
World. Their efforts came to fruition with the incorporation of the Knights
of Columbus on March 29, 1882. If you are a practical Catholic man at
least 18 years of age, then you should consider joining the K of C. The K
of C is an organization of Catholic men dedicated to charity, unity, fraternity,
patriotism, and family life.

The Bishop’s 13th Annual Catholic Pro-Life Dinner
The event, benefiting the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, the Respect Life
Ministry of the Diocese of Dallas, will begin at 5:30 pm March 25, at the
