customers’ expectations.
AIRTECH Services
We are a company that cleans ductwork, and does nothing else. One of the difficulties encountered by many
service companies is that proficiency in several related services is required to be successful. For example, many
HVAC companies offer duct cleaning as a supplemental service, but of course their primary business is
installing and servicing heating and cooling equipment. For these companies, duct cleaning is not always given
the attention it deserves. Often it is done by less experienced employees, and is almost always done with
inferior equipment.
We emphasize that AIRTECH is a company that does nothing but duct cleaning. No furnace installation or
services, no maintenance of HVAC equipment, just duct cleaning. We have learned to become specialists in
duct cleaning.
We provide any services you might need in the duct cleaning and air quality industry. Whether you are a
home owner taking care of the health and safety of your family or a business administrator maintaining air
quality standards in the work environment, or maybe you are concerned about the fire or micro-bacterial
contamination hazards caused due to unclean kitchen and laundry exhaust ducts, we are here to take care of
your needs.
Some of the services we provide include:
HVAC Duct Cleaning
Laundry Dryer Duct Cleaning
Kitchen Exhaust Duct Cleaning
Industrial Duct Cleaning
HVAC Duct Cleaning
Forced air systems pull in contaminated air and circulate it throughout the duct system. While filters capture
some of the debris, they don’t catch everything. When dirt settles in the ducts, it creates a breeding ground for
bacteria, mold, fungus, germs, insects and rodents. This unhealthy air blows out through the various vents in
the building and into the work environment. Not only do employees typically complain about these
allergy/asthma/flu aggravants, but dust and dirt particles in the air make their way into computers and other
sensitive equipment. In addition to causing employee health problems, dirty HVAC ducts can impair the
efficiency of your heating and air conditioning system components. This greatly decreases the efficiency of
your system which increases the cost of your energy bill.
AIRTECH has been cleaning HVAC systems for over 8 years. In that time we have gained a tremendous amount
of experience by performing projects in wide variety of Industries and building types. We have cleaned the air
ducts in offices, hotels, high-rise buildings, hospitals, pharmaceuticals etc. Each project has a unique set of
circumstances and so we customize a work plan for each individual project.
Our customers hire us for a variety of reasons, some of which include:
Complaints by occupants about the indoor air quality.
Excessive dust in the building.
Hot or cold spots in the building that are the result of a dirty system.
Poor performance by their HVAC system.
Thermal comfort.
Odors.
As a regular part of a proactive maintenance program.
HVAC System Cleaning Procedure
The proposal process
We come out to your building free of charge and discuss with you your needs. We do an overview inspection
of your systems, evaluate your needs and then recommend a solution. We then create a proposal for you
usually with options for you to consider.
Proposal acceptance phase
If you accept our proposal we then discuss with you a plan of action and schedule a time frame for the work to
begin based upon your convenience.
Assessment phase
We then do a detailed assessment of the project. We consider the type and use of the building to plan for
containments and protective measures we need to take to insure the safety of the building occupants and the
building structure and furnishings.
Scope of work and work plan
Based upon our assessment we then chalk out a scope of work and a work plan so that our technicians know
which components to clean, what techniques to employ to clean them, what protective measures they need to
take to protect the building and its occupants, and all the information our technicians need in order to
successfully complete the project.
Scheduling phase
After we have a scope of work we then allocate the proper manpower and equipment that will be necessary to
complete the project on schedule.
Arrive at sight
Safety is our first priority. When we first arrive at the sight we review any site specific safety requirements
before we begin work.
Protecting building and furnishings
We usually start the project by covering desks and furnishings and carpeting with plastic drop cloths and put
corner protectors on the walls as and where required.
Inspection before cleaning
A visual inspection of air duct is an important part of our service. Our RoboCam helps to reach out
places where human eye cannot reach. A thorough inspection is done using RoboCam and Inspection
Video System (IVS). The RoboCam is inserted into the duct through any of the grills or any opening.
Information received on the IVS is carefully viewed and also recorded on a SD Card for evidence of
work. Still pictures are also taken using digital cameras to photo document the condition of the duct.
Cleaning phase
Clean one system at a time. When we are cleaning a HVAC system we try to clean one system in its entirety
before moving on to the next system. We clean the following components on a full system clean
The air handler including the heat exchangers, the blowers, the filter racks, the plenums, the drain
pans and the entire air passage way
We wash the evaporator coils
We clean the full length of the supply air ducts
We clean the full length of the return air ducts
We clean the registers and diffusers
We clean turning vanes and dampers
We clean VAV boxes and or mixing boxes
In a full system clean we clean all the components located in the air stream from the point the air enters the
system to the point the air exits the system.
Duct Cleaning using Negative Pressure Machine and Rotary Brush -After proper inspection and
planning, Negative Pressure Machine (NPM) is installed at one end of the air duct and from the other
end rotating brush is inserted into the duct. Rotating brush helps in loosening of the dust. Dust is
then sucked out by the NPM.
Cleaning using Air Whip -The technique is only used if solid dust or debris is stuck onto the walls of
Air Duct. Air Whip uses a vibrating and high-pressure air that breaks solid dust particles which gets
stuck to walls of air duct. High Air pressure helps in pushing them forward and is then sucked by
NPM.
Contact Vacuuming - Lastly contact vacuuming is done. It can reach places where brush cannot reach
and also at air duct joints where dust are stuck giving a completely Clean Air Duct. Also grills and
filters are cleaned used contact vacuuming.
Dust / debris disposal
Dust / debris disposal is done in a very careful manner. Removal of dust from NPM and other
machines is done in an appropriate way. It is either disposed off or given to client for chemical test.
Inspection after cleaning
Inspection after cleaning using RoboCam and IVS is done to verify whether any dust/debris is left over
and has not been removed. It also provides proof of cleaning and ensures that the job done has met
our high standards.
Clean Up
At the end of every day we will remove drop cloths, clean the entire work area and leave the premises cleaner
than it was when we arrived.
Reporting Phase
After the project is complete we will supply you with photo documentation that we have performed as
promised along with a Job Completion Certificate. If required we also provide with a VCD or SD CARD of the
video captured by our RoboCam.
Please note that the procedures mentioned above are a general guideline of how we perform every
project. Each job can vary depending on the building usage and working conditions and certain circumstances.
However our goal at every project always remains the same:
Work safely and neatly.
Don’t damage anything
Don’t release any forms of contamination into the building envelope.
Clean all the specified components according to NADCA Standards.
Visually inspect all work and verify cleanliness.
Take pictures / videos of all work to document cleaning effectiveness.
Submit documentation that we have performed as promised.
Guarantee all our work.
Laundry Dryer Duct Cleaning
When a commercial dryer vent is clogged, airflow is reduced and commercial dryers are forced to work harder.
This means the air travelling through the ductwork and vents gets hotter and does not dry effectively, which
can cause:
Potential for lint to ignite as the heated air moves slower and temperature intensifies.
Accelerated thermostat and internal sensor failure.
Reduction in the lifespan of your appliance.
Higher energy consumption.
Most commercial dryers come with lint traps, or filters, designed to capture the lint, yet only 30-40% is
typically collected. The remainder sticks to the duct work and piping. Lint and other debris builds up over time
so it is not ever safe to assume that emptying the filter regularly is enough to protect your property from a
dryer vent fire.
Some of the signs you need commercial dryer vent cleaning:
There is an accumulation of lint or debris on the external vent.
The dryer is hot to the touch indicating it is overheating.
It takes more than one drying cycle to dry one load.
The laundered items smell “musty” after being in the dryer.
Laundry Dryer Duct Cleaning Procedure
The formal process for all our projects remain the same as it has been stated above for the HVAC system
cleaning process.
Kitchen Exhaust Duct Cleaning
Grease from the kitchen travels into the hood, through the vent hood filters, into ductwork that leads to the
exhaust fan on the roof. Grease is a fuel that can ignite with a simple spark from the kitchen cooking line and
spread throughout the attic and onto the roof in seconds causing severe damage and potential loss of life. The
owner of the exhaust system has the ultimate responsibility to ensure the exhaust system is safe.
AIRTECH cleans your kitchen exhaust system from cook-top to roof-top to ensure that your exhaust system is
completely cleaned to the NFPA Standard-96. Many of our competitors clean only where you can see and
don’t spend time on the areas you can’t. We clean the hood, the entire duct work and the blower fan. We
even prove it through our Picture Verification System which we provide on every clean!
Having your exhaust system cleaned regularly is not only for the safety of your customer, employees, and your
building; it’s mandated by law that you have it done.
Kitchen Exhaust System Inspection & Cleaning Schedule
It is very typical for a municipality to adopt the standard written by the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA) as the local law or code for building and cleaning commercial kitchen grease hoods. The NFPA is an
independent organization, not an arm of the government. The standard that the NFPA has written concerning
commercial kitchens is NFPA 96. Again, NFPA 96 is a standard written by an independent organization, not a
law or code until it is adopted as a law or code by the municipality where the cooking establishment is located.
Since NFPA is the standard most widely and universally adopted into law, it is the only standard that we will
address and follow.
According to NFPA 96 – 2011, Section 11.4: “The entire exhaust system shall be inspected for grease buildup
by a properly trained, qualified, and certified person(s) acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction and in
accordance with Table 11.4.”
NFPA 96 – Table 11.4
Systems serving low-volume cooking operations, such as churches, day camps,
seasonal businesses, or senior centers.
Industrial Duct Cleaning
Annually
The most important element for keeping your industrial ducting clean has to be the human element.
Depending on the extraction system different factors will be working against your ductwork and having Airtech
maintain your system will increase its effectiveness and working life. Prevention is always better than the cure
and this couldn’t be truer than with ducting. The accumulation of grease, dirt and dust can make for
uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous working conditions. Rest assured Airtech has the solution. We offer
a one off or regular cleaning program that will eliminate the buildup of grease and grime that is inevitable and
it’s this grime that we enjoy to clean. Please use the below table to decide the best cleaning intervals for your
duct work. The frequency depends on the usage and the vulnerability of the system to ignition.
USAGE (Hours per Day of Operation) Cleaning Frequency
Very Heavy Use (16 – 20 hours per day) Monthly
Heavy Use (12 – 16 hours per day) Quarterly
Moderate Use (6 – 12 hours per day) Semi - Annually
Light Use (2 – 6 hours per day) Annually
