Palatal Implants for Skeletal Anchorage in the Maxilla. Basics
and Clinical Application
Device design of palatal implants, preoperative diagnostic measures, insertion and removal
procedures, potential suprastructure application, success rate, biomechanical anchorage facilities,
comparative risks and complications as compared to other skeletal anchorage devices have to be
well known if skeletal anchorage is intended to be used in the maxilla. This can help in deciding
which skeletal anchorage device should be selected in the individual case. The lecture will focus
on basics as well as clinical aspects of the above mentioned criteria.

Dr. Britta A. Jung
Dr. Britta A. Jung received her undergraduate training in dentistry from the
University of Berlin and Erlangen. Between 2000-2003 she worked in a
general dental practice and completed her doctorate in dentistry at the
Charité- University Medicine Berlin in 2004. 2003-2006 Postgraduate
training in orthodontics in Lower Saxony and Mainz (Univ.-Prof. Dr. med.
Dr. med. dent. Heiner Wehrbein, Department of Orthodontics, University
Hospital Mainz). 09/2006 Consultant for Orthodontics; 09/2006-present:
Research Fellow, Department of Orthodontics, University Hospital Mainz;
11/2008 - present Senior Physician, Department of Orthodontics,
University Hospital Mainz (Head: Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. H.
Wehrbein). She maintain scientific cooperation with the University of Aachen, Dresden,
Greifswald, Bochum and Berne and is the principal investigator of several clinical studies in the
field of skeletal anchorage.
