TRANSCRIPTION<br />

29 th September 1753<br />

On which day appeared Personally <strong>James</strong> <strong>Nourse</strong> <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Parish <strong>of</strong> Saint Paul Covent Garden in the County <strong>of</strong> Middlesex<br />

Woolen Draper -- <strong>and</strong> Charles <strong>Fouace</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Parish <strong>of</strong> St.<br />

Michael Bassishaw London gentleman <strong>and</strong> did jointly<br />

<strong>and</strong> [?] for themselves depose as follows to wit the aforesaid<br />

<strong>James</strong> <strong>Nourse</strong> for himself deposed that he is <strong>of</strong> the Age <strong>of</strong> Twenty<br />

two years <strong>and</strong> upward <strong>and</strong> a Batchelor <strong>and</strong> that he doth intend<br />

to intermarry with <strong>Sarah</strong> <strong>Fouace</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Parish <strong>of</strong> Saint Paul<br />

Covent Garden aforesaid Spinster a Minor <strong>of</strong> the Age <strong>of</strong> Eighteen<br />

Years <strong>and</strong> upwards <strong>and</strong> under the Age <strong>of</strong> One <strong>and</strong> Twenty Years<br />

by <strong>and</strong> with the Consent <strong>of</strong> Charles <strong>Fouace</strong> Curator or Guardian<br />

lawfully chosen <strong>and</strong> appointed <strong>and</strong> that he knoweth <strong>of</strong> no lawful<br />

Let or impediment by reason <strong>of</strong> any Precontract, Consanguinity,<br />

Affinity, or any other lawful means whatsoever to hinder the<br />

said intended <strong>Marriage</strong> <strong>of</strong> the truth <strong>of</strong> which he made oath <strong>and</strong><br />

prayed a Licence for them to solemnize the said <strong>Marriage</strong> in the<br />

Parish Church <strong>of</strong> Battersea or Putney in the County <strong>of</strong> Surry or<br />

Fullham in the County <strong>of</strong> Middlesex And he the said Charles<br />

<strong>Fouace</strong> for himself deposed that she the said <strong>Sarah</strong> <strong>Fouace</strong><br />

Spinster the Minor aforesaid hath neither Father nor Mother now<br />

living or any Testamentary Guardian or other whatsoever to her<br />

appointed <strong>and</strong> that she is not a ward <strong>of</strong> the High Court <strong>of</strong> Chancery<br />

to the best <strong>of</strong> his Knowledge <strong>and</strong> [?] that he is her [scratched out]<br />

Curator or Guardian lawfully chosen <strong>and</strong> appointed by virtue <strong>of</strong> an<br />

Instrument under h<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> seal <strong>and</strong> hereunto signed <strong>and</strong><br />

as such that he is consenting to the above intended <strong>Marriage</strong>.<br />
