Head Start
A new competition for university students offers
the chance to turn their dreams into a reality.
ubai is famous
for many things,
but one of its
most celebrated
features is the
thriving business
sector that exists here. Many
global companies have chosen to
base themselves in Dubai and the
economy is one of the most prolifi c
in the world.
As with all industries, however,
it is up to the future generation
to continue the hard work of
their predecessors and see that
business in the UAE continues to
grow, holding the country’s place
as a global forerunner. It is with
this in mind that The Big Start was
launched by Al Tamimi Investments
(ATI), which has made a
competition that gives UAE-based
university students an opportunity
to win the chance to become the
CEO of their own business, with
the winner also receiving full funding
and operational support for
their original business idea.

As is the key to any successful business,
however, the competition also
needs to grow and develop, so this
year, the competition has been expanded
beyond the usual entry crite-
ria to include not only undergraduate
students, as before, but submissions
from fi nal year postgraduate students
that are under 30 years of age.
Rachael Wunsch, general manager
of ATI, said, “We’ve decided to
extend The Big Start this season to
include postgraduate students, in
part, to satisfy demand for participation
among this group, but also
to elevate the competitiveness
between students.
“Our group workshop
approach

learn as much from
our mentoring as
they do from each
other. Introducing
a more senior
student body into
the competition
stands to enhance
the overall learning
experience
