The first time you set up the <strong>FAXPHONE</strong>, you have to install the BX-3 BJ FAX<br />

cartridge before you can begin receiving and copying documents.<br />

How DRPD responds to calls<br />

When there is an incoming call, the <strong>FAXPHONE</strong> checks the incoming ring pat-<br />

tern and determines the type of pattern being received. The <strong>FAXPHONE</strong> may<br />

require up to l0 seconds to determine the pattern type, and during this time the<br />

FAXPHONFI, does not ring. After the pattern is detected, the <strong>FAXPHONE</strong> reacts<br />

according to how you registered the setting.<br />

The DRP service is commonly used with automatic receiving only.<br />

When the <strong>FAXPHONE</strong> is set fbr automatic receiving. the <strong>FAXPHONE</strong> operatcs according<br />

lf IAX/TEL SWITCIH is set. the difl'erence between incoming telephone calls and fax<br />

transmissions will be detected.<br />

How to change a setting<br />

There are two basic types ol'settings, selectable seltings and numeric entry settinss.<br />

The tbllowing example shows how to make both tvpes of changes.<br />
