RENEWABLE OUTLOOK
KIUC’s Update on Projects
in Progress and Completed
The board and management of KIUC are
committed to decreasing the island’s reliance on
imported fossil fuels and replacing that generation
with homegrown renewable energy resources.
That not only will aid the environment, but will
offer members more stable rates due to less
volatility from world oil prices.
Here is a recap of actions the coop has taken
toward the renewable energy goals in its strategic
plan. KIUC’s 2009 renewable portfolio standard
was 14 percent, and the coop is on target to
reach the goal of more than 50 percent by 2023.
