Abstract <br />
This collection consists of two scrapbooks compiled by <strong>Oliver</strong> T. <strong>Everhart</strong>, a member of the <br />
<strong>Franklin</strong> and <strong>Marshall</strong> Class of <strong>1854</strong>. The first scrapbook was compiled in 1917 and <br />
consists of ephemera, news clippings and other papers dating from the 1850s to 1917 that <br />
relate to Mr. <strong>Everhart</strong>'s personal affiliations with various organizations including <strong>Franklin</strong> <br />
and <strong>Marshall</strong> College, the York County Pomona Grange and Emmanuel Reformed Church of <br />
Hanover, Pa. <br />

The second scrapbook contains pressed botanical specimens collected by Mr. <strong>Everhart</strong> in <br />
1852 while a student at <strong>Marshall</strong> College in Mercersburg, Pa. <br />

The <strong>Oliver</strong> T. <strong>Everhart</strong> <strong>Collection</strong> was presented to <strong>Franklin</strong> and <strong>Marshall</strong> College in 2001 <br />
by Richard Berg of the Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society at the Lancaster <br />
Theological Seminary. Until this time, the materials were held by the ERHS having been <br />
donated by Mr. <strong>Everhart</strong> in the early 20th century due to Mr. <strong>Everhart</strong>'s relationship to the <br />
German Reformed Church. <br />

Historical/Biographical Information <br />
<strong>Oliver</strong> Troxell <strong>Everhart</strong>, born in 1832 in Manchester, MD, graduated from <strong>Franklin</strong> and <br />
<strong>Marshall</strong> College in <strong>1854</strong>. After receiving his medical degree from the University of <br />
Maryland, Baltimore in1856, Mr. <strong>Everhart</strong> practiced medicine in York and Perry counties <br />
before settling in Hanover, Pennsylvania in 1877. During the Civil War, Dr. <strong>Everhart</strong> <br />
assisted with administering to the sick and wounded until illness left him partially crippled. <br />
After the war, Dr. <strong>Everhart</strong> continued to practice medicine until his death. <br />
