If you want to get out on the reservoir, check
out one of the five day-use areas. Winberry,
with its two-lane boat ramp and parking for
more than 100 cars and 150 boat trailers, is the
largest. It’s also the only one to charge a day-use
fee. The site is open May 1 to September 30.
There are four other day-use sites. Three offer
primitive boat ramps. The North Shore site has
a low-water ramp and is open year-round. The
others are open May 1 to September 30.
Fall Creek Reservoir is a prime recreation
area surrounded by day-use parks and a
campground. It’s a hot spot for jetskiers
and waterskiers. Fishing includes bass, catfish and
rainbow trout.
Cascara campground, on the upper end of the
Fall Creek arm of the reservoir, is just 30 minutes
from Eugene/Springfield. It’s a cozy, private place
for a weekend retreat or mini-vacation during the
week, when it is exceptionally quiet and serene.
The 47 primitive campsites are tucked away amid
towering Douglas-fir trees, and perfect for tenters
who remember that there are times when “roughing
it” means just that. Every site comes equipped
with a fire ring and picnic table. A swimming area,
complete with a deck, is located at the edge of the
campground. The boat ramp is nearby, too. The
campground is open May 1 to September 30.
