and organizations find assistance to meet their communities’ traffic safety needs.<br />

The information was compiled by the Transportation <strong>Safety</strong> Division <strong>of</strong> the<br />

and injuries on <strong>Oregon</strong>’s roadways. ACTS operates three major programs: The<br />

The CSSRC serves as the statewide clearinghouse for information and technical<br />

assistance regarding the correct use <strong>of</strong> child safety seats and boosters. Contact<br />

the CSSRC for information on buying seats, resources for seats, recalls, list <strong>of</strong><br />

local trained seat checkers, latest research, correct installation and any other<br />

issues related to child safety seats. The CSSRC presents to groups training in<br />

correct use and installation <strong>of</strong> child safety restraint systems and assists with<br />

community check-up clinics.<br />

Loan Executive Management Assistance Program (LEMAP) for police<br />

Drive It Safe is a traffic safety educational program aimed at increasing public<br />

The re-examination evaluation program evaluates drivers whose driving behavior<br />

has been reported to this agency for action by law enforcement, courts, and other<br />

reliable sources. The driver meets privately with a DMV representative for an<br />

overall evaluation <strong>of</strong> their mental status, comprehension, knowledge <strong>of</strong> the rules<br />

issues. The Impaired Driving Program provides overtime grants to law<br />

The SAFE <strong>Traffic</strong> Awareness Class addresses attitude change and anger<br />

management behind the wheel. The class covers the math and physics <strong>of</strong><br />

speed, how little time is actually saved by speeding, high risk behaviors <strong>of</strong> “good”<br />

drivers, who are really in control and why, what makes cell phones so risky, and<br />

how to take control <strong>of</strong> the road so as to reduce the likelihood <strong>of</strong> a wreck. The 6hour<br />

class is given one or two Saturdays a month for traffic <strong>of</strong>fenders <strong>of</strong> all ages,<br />

usually referred by judges, and can be adapted for employee or school groups.<br />
