Wayne Burgess, Mike Burgess and Ward Sevila braved a serious snow storm to attend<br />
the AACA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia this past February. The Meeting<br />
has many training seminars, a Trade Center, and a very nice Awards Dinner on Saturday<br />
night. The Northern Neckers had a very good time.

NORTHERN NECK REGION MINUTES<br />
February 25, <strong>2010</strong><br />
<strong>2010</strong> President, Bob Nead, brought the meeting to order.<br />
Alan Merkel suggested we all pledge allegiance to the flag.<br />
All members agreed, stood, and said the allegiance. Mae<br />
Lynne Guest read the treasurer’s report. Alan Merkel made a<br />
motion to accept the report as read. Paul Stosch seconded the<br />
motion.<br />
Ward Sevila presented Steve Lowe with a service award<br />
plaque for his terms as president <strong>of</strong> our club. Steve was also<br />
given a cake in his honor.<br />
We had two new members at the meeting: Tom Hoggard,<br />
owner <strong>of</strong> a 1929 model A Ford, a 1966 Corvair, and a 1966<br />
Corvette; and Mike Arenson, owner <strong>of</strong> 1965 VW Bug, and a<br />
1952 Ford rat rod.<br />
Jack Ashburn discussed the swap meet on March 27 th ,<br />
which will have 38 indoor spaces. It will be open from 8-<br />
3pm. A list was passed around for those members that could<br />
help out with the swap meet. There was a discussion about<br />
our club’s swap meet flyer not being in the newsletter, but<br />
having Tidewater’s Meet Flyer in the newsletter had upset<br />
some members. There was s till a lot <strong>of</strong> response from other<br />
regions, because flyers had been mailed out to local regions.<br />
It was also mentioned that the Richmond Region’s swap meet<br />
will be March 13, <strong>2010</strong>.<br />
A May 15 th Spring tour was talked about. Everyone will<br />
meet at the Kilmarnock Museum at 9:00am, with departure at<br />
10:00am.<br />
It was noted that everyone enjoyed the January meeting/<br />
dinner and that the food was good.<br />
Other local regional happenings were brought up: the Apple<br />
Blossom Meet by the Shenandoah Region on May 7-8 and the<br />
Chesapeake Region’s swap meet on March-13-<strong>2010</strong>. There<br />
was also a discussion about having our region’s yearly activities<br />
(Cruise ins, tour dates, etc.) printed out as handouts for<br />
our swap meet, plus other activities. There was a suggestion<br />
that we collect e-mail addresses at our cruise ins to help get<br />
out more regional flyers.<br />
There was a discussion about the Virginia Peninsular Car<br />
Council Web Site and other web sites that can be used to promote<br />
our region’s activities.<br />
Steve Lowe suggested that we all drive our cars to the swap<br />
meet and that we have our club banner displayed.<br />
Ward Sevila let everyone know that some local Corvette<br />
owners are thinking <strong>of</strong> starting a Corvette <strong>Club</strong> on the neck.<br />
Ward said he would like to see if he can get these people to<br />
join our region outright, or as a chapter <strong>of</strong> our region. There<br />
will be more research on this idea by Ward. He will be attending<br />
their meeting and find out more about this.<br />
Ward also discussed the ODMA Meet held in Petersburg<br />
this year on May 7-8, <strong>2010</strong> and had flyers available for those<br />
members that wanted to attend.<br />
Northern Neck Region<br />
Ward reported on his trip to Philadelphia with Mike and<br />
Wayne Burgess. Ward reported that he had no idea how big<br />
this convention really was and that he really enjoyed the trip.<br />
Bob Nead held up a picture <strong>of</strong> a race car that was displayed<br />
at Hershey this year showing that the AACA is reaching<br />
out to others. Bob also mentioned that the Richmond Rod<br />
show this year had 878 attendees, but over 1000 were needed<br />
to keep the show open. Needless to say, there will be no more<br />
Richmond Rod Shows. Bob was explaining that the same<br />
thing can happen to our club if we do not participate in all <strong>of</strong><br />
our activities, car shows, and cruise ins.<br />
Steve Lowe mentioned that he liked the idea <strong>of</strong> the bowling<br />
pin awards last year and was wondering if we could get<br />
more made out <strong>of</strong> old car parts. There was also mention <strong>of</strong> the<br />
fact that we need to think about our annual show in September<br />
now.<br />
Carl Hopkins won the 50/50 and the meeting was adjourned.<br />
