New UK oriented<br />
Zoomlion<br />
Chinese crane manufacturer Zoomlion<br />
has developed a new 35 tonne truck<br />
crane for the European market in<br />
partnership with its UK-based<br />
distributor Crowland Cranes.<br />
The new QY30V-1 has completed its<br />
final 10 day operational tests in China,<br />
under the watchful eye of Crowland’s The new 35 tonne Zoomlion QY30V<br />
Peter Issit and has now shipped.<br />
Further testing will be carried out in the UK as well as giving potential<br />
customers time to put the crane through its paces. The 35 tonne rating is<br />
at 2.5 metres radius and it can take 1,100kg to 28 metres. It also boasts a<br />
full power 40 metre main boom, plus eight metre underslung fly jib, with<br />
three offset positions. The new model is the first of three new truck crane<br />
developments, with new 55 tonne and 70 tonne revisions due out by the<br />
end of the year. Zoomlion is also preparing to ship its new 80 tonne<br />
QUY80 crawler crane.<br />
Tanfield extends sale option<br />
Tanfield, owner of Snorkel aerial work platforms has extended the<br />
exclusivity period for the sale of its Smiths electric vehicle business to<br />
Smith Electric Vehicles US (SEVUS) in a deal worth up to £70 million,<br />
buy a further 60 days.<br />

Smart Ascendant<br />
UK-based self drive vehicle mounted lift specialist Smart Platform<br />
Rental has purchased its first Ascendant - an A12.5VM van mounted<br />
lift on a 3.5 tonne Ford Transit chassis.<br />
Smart Platform spokesman Guy Willett said that the company was<br />
impressed with the simplicity of the design, operation and maintenance<br />
of the Ascendant unit together with its excellent unladen weight which<br />
provides a payload of 450kg. The order was placed at this year’s Vertikal<br />
Days where the company also ordered its first Land-Rover based lift,<br />
a 14 metre Socage 314 from Kettering-based Cumberland Industries.<br />
Fire destroys Tinsley facility<br />
A massive fire has destroyed the premises of Stockton-on-Tees based<br />
Tinsley, the UK-based manufacturer of special trailers for the crane industry.<br />
A fire broke out at a neighbour’s facility and quickly spread to the Tinsley<br />
offices. Tinsley not only builds counterweight and boom trailers with built-in<br />
fall protection systems, but also manufacturers replacement body panels and<br />
serves the crane and aerial lift industries with blasting and painting services,<br />
crane repairs, rebuilds and servicing.
