She Worketh Willingly with Her Hands, by Elspeth Young
Lydia was a seller of purple in the city of Thyatira. Like the virtuous woman described in Proverbs, Lydia worked
“willingly with her hands” (Proverbs 31:13). She was among those who listened to the Apostle Paul and “whose heart
the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul” (Acts 16:14).
After she and her household were baptized, she invited Paul to come to her home and further teach them (see Acts 16:15).
