that, as indicated in the Instructions, The Endocrine Society adheres to the statement of guiding principles in the care<br />

and use of animals published each month in the Information for Authors of the American Journal of Physiology.<br />

MOLECULAR ENDOCRINOLOGY does not make the payment of page charges or other assessments a condition<br />

for acceptance of a manuscript for publication. However, authors will be assessed charges of $35 per printed page<br />

at the time proofs are received. Also note the Manuscript Processing Fee of $60 described in the box on the<br />

Instructions to Authors Copyright Assignment page. Furthermore, additional charges may be levied if the Editor-in-<br />

Chief finds the use of illustrative material to be excessive or unusual. In extraordinary cases, upon appeal by the<br />

author, the Publications Committee may waive either or both of these assessments.<br />

NOTICE OF INCREASE IN THE MANUSCRIPT PROCESSING FEE<br />

Beginning in July 1990, a manuscript processing fee of $60 must be submitted with each manuscript.<br />

Manuscripts cannot be considered for publication until this fee is received.<br />

The Endocrine Society publishes papers describing the results of original research in the field<br />

of endocrinology and metabolism in the JOURNAL OF CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGY AND<br />

METABOLISM, ENDOCRINOLOGY, MOLECULAR ENDOCRINOLOGY, and ENDO-<br />

CRINE REVIEWS.<br />

The JOURNAL OF CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGY AND METABOLISM publishes endocrine<br />

and metabolic studies related to human and primate physiology and disease. ENDOCRI-<br />

NOLOGY publishes nonprimate biochemical and physiological studies, although work on material<br />

of primate origin is not excluded. MOLECULAR ENDOCRINOLOGY publishes studies of the<br />

effects of hormones and related substances on the molecular biology and genetic regulation of<br />

nonprimate and primate cells. ENDOCRINE REVIEWS publishes quarterly and features indepth<br />

review articles on both experimental and clinical endocrinology. Authors are invited to<br />

consult with the Editors concerning the most appropriate journal to which to submit their<br />

manuscripts.<br />

All authors submitting manuscripts for publication must provide assurance, on the form<br />

provided, or a copy thereof, that no substantial part of the work has been published or is being<br />

submitted or considered for publication elsewhere. When a portion of the results is to appear in<br />

another journal, or in publications of congresses, symposia, workshops, etc., details should be<br />

supplied to the Editor, and a copy of the other paper(s) submitted, along with the expected date<br />

of publication.<br />

A processing fee of $60 (not applicable for submissions to Endocrine Reviews) must be<br />

submitted with each manuscript. The fee must be paid in United States currency by check or<br />

money order, payable to the journal, and drawn on or payable by a United States bank, so that<br />

it will clear the US Federal Reserve System with no surcharge. Manuscripts will not be considered<br />

for publication until this fee is received. The fee also is required if a previously rejected manuscript<br />

is resubmitted.<br />

The Journals are copyrighted by The Endocrine Society to protect the Society and authors<br />

from unauthorized use of its contents. The Society grants to authors the royalty free right of<br />

republication in any work of which they are the author or editor, subject only to giving proper<br />

credit in the work to the original publication of the article by The Endocrine Society.<br />

The following affidavit affirming originality and assigning copyright to The Endocrine Society<br />

must be submitted to the Editorial Office with all manuscripts. Separate copies of this document<br />

may be submitted by authors currently located at different institutions, but such copies must be<br />

submitted with the manuscript. If the manuscript is not accepted for publication, the copyright<br />

assignment on the reverse side has no legal effect and will be returned on request. A manuscript<br />

will not be considered for publication until this affidavit and the processing fee (not<br />

applicable for submissions to Endocrine Reviews) are received.
