<strong>Sudan</strong> will be briefed on accommodation and other support arrangement upon<br />

arrival <strong>in</strong> the mission area. They may be subjected to hardship conditions while on<br />

duty, particularly dur<strong>in</strong>g period <strong>of</strong> tension (.)<br />

-(List <strong>of</strong> cloth<strong>in</strong>g and equipment guide list for <strong>UN</strong> <strong>Police</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficer is attached)<br />

Cash- <strong>Police</strong> Officer should br<strong>in</strong>g sufficient cash (USD) to susta<strong>in</strong> one week <strong>in</strong><br />

Khartoum ( US $ 100 per day) (.)<br />

Vacc<strong>in</strong>ation Certificate: - Yellow fever vacc<strong>in</strong>ation is mandatory and pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

immunization must be produced at entry for all travelers (.)<br />

Malaria :-malaria prophylaxis is required (.) Please see the guidel<strong>in</strong>es for civilian<br />

police <strong>of</strong>ficers on assignment <strong>with</strong> <strong>UN</strong>MIS and the travel authorization.<br />

Visa:-obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g a visa for <strong>Sudan</strong> is mandatory.<br />

Driv<strong>in</strong>g license -These <strong>of</strong>ficer must have at least two years recent driv<strong>in</strong>g experience<br />

and must be <strong>in</strong> possession <strong>of</strong> valid driv<strong>in</strong>g license. The <strong>of</strong>ficers are subject to <strong>in</strong>mission<br />

assessment <strong>in</strong> driv<strong>in</strong>g skills.<br />

Medical Exam<strong>in</strong>ation: Medical Exam<strong>in</strong>ation to be completed <strong>with</strong><strong>in</strong> three months <strong>of</strong><br />

deployment for all <strong>UN</strong> police <strong>of</strong>ficers.<br />

3. The <strong>UN</strong> only pays subsistence allowance dur<strong>in</strong>g the period <strong>of</strong> deployment <strong>with</strong><strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>UN</strong> <strong>Mission</strong> area. The pay and allowances are to be paid by the lend<strong>in</strong>g authority. The<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficers may also be allowed to reta<strong>in</strong> Government accommodation/telephone etc., if<br />

any held by them.<br />

4. It must be ensured that the above police <strong>of</strong>ficers have rendered 08 years <strong>of</strong><br />

police service <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g period and are clear from vigilance angle. It may also<br />

be ensured that the police <strong>of</strong>ficer who has been to any <strong>UN</strong> <strong>Mission</strong> earlier and also<br />

figures <strong>in</strong> the appendix, should have completed the 3 years cool<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong>f period after<br />

return from the earlier mission. If it is found later on that the <strong>of</strong>ficer has concealed any<br />

facts <strong>in</strong> this regard, he will liable to be repatriated from the <strong>UN</strong> <strong>Mission</strong> at his own cost<br />

and will also be liable to discipl<strong>in</strong>ary proceed<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

5. It is requested that above <strong>of</strong>ficers may please be relieved <strong>with</strong> the direction to<br />

report at National <strong>UN</strong> CIVPOL CENTRE, ITBP, Tigri camp New Delhi by 31.01.2009<br />

provided they are clear from vigilance angle (.)<br />
